The Dielman is a re-release I'm pretty sure. It came out on Criterion quite a while ago.
Hyped for Taipei Story. Dheepan can go fuck itself. I like Ghost Story quite a bit but I dunno why it needs a Criterion release.

Yeah, I meant to say they took long in upgrading it to blu-ray, since it's quite clearly a film that would benefit immensely from it. Those static, painstaking compositions deserve to be seen in the best quality possible.

That officially confirms three titles from the cartoon (Ghost World, Dielman, Dheepan)

I've only seen Ghost World from this slate, and I don't care much for it.

Ghost World is an exciting choice. Although, like how many people have pointed out, did that film really need a Criterion treatment? There's probably some more deserving movies that deserve the Criterion treatment.

So happy to see The Lodger up here. I'm glad to see Hitchcock's earlier works get proper releases, especially since The Lodger seemed to be the one where he finally hit his stride.

Some major and idiosyncratic films on that list............L'Argent is my favorite Bresson film so that's a must own - keeping his intellectual rigor into a deceptively haunting story. Really grows on repeat viewings imo.

Rebecca and Certain Women are good picks. Nothing too, too enticing though.

There's certain people (most of them), when you ask them their favorite Hitchcock always answer from his 50s/60s re-emergence and that's great stuff of course, but then there's those other people for whom it's Rebecca/Suspicion/Shadow of a Doubt era in the 40s. For those people, I always felt that they really loved those films, in a more possessive way almost......... Rebecca most of all and this promises to be an event in terms of the film and extras.
That's a great cover shot.....

I LOVE that cover, but that's exactly the type of content that would give me nightmares. So eerie.

Probably my favorite monthly lineup in a long long time. Rebecca, The Piano Teacher, and Certain Women are must haves. David Lynch The Art Life down the road for sure.Plus it's cheaper.

I'm not as big a fan of it as some (but it would probably still make my top 10 English language of that year for its best sequences) but it is one of the most beautiful movies ever, the Criterion version should be something to see.
