• Send me a list of your 25 Favorite Songs by PM. Not in the thread. • It should be a list of #1-25, in order. • Calculations should be obvious. • Edit is welcome if you change your mind throughout the course of a month or two or more. • Top 25 songs can include anything. Don't have to restrict to one song per artist. Whatever feels like your favorites can be named. Even if you want to name composers, 1800s songs and Muddy Blues or Frank Sinatra, that's ok. Just identify them clearly so people could find them on youtube to know that the song/composition/music piece exists.
• After the presentation, I will do the + and - Top 100 Charts game with it. We'll see if I have enough voters. If not, I can just abandon it. But I want to at least try it to see what I get out of it.
I feel like this could be the easiest thing to just list away. Because songs are the easiest thing to name. Just have a bunch of favorite music you've heard in your life, and list away. It's also my goal to get at least 10 people, then I'll set a deadline time. So please try to vote anytime you have time.
I'll put a first deadline out here December 25, 2019. Will probably extend it knowing there will be procrastinators, but I just wanna put this out there to encourage you to send sooner! And as I said, if there's not enough interest in this, I'll abandon it. But I want to at least try it, because I personally feel this is the most interesting thing to talk about music, and I feel like this is easier to do than albums. And it's unpredictable, unlike albums. Nobody knows what will be in the top 10. No song is also guaranteed to be in the top 100.

I have a hard time choosing favorite songs. Albums are more my speed, as they create a rhythm -- individual songs can be grating on me sometimes, no matter how much I love them. In the context of a full album, they fill a piece of a mood or story that is being told. But you can bet I'll be attempting to vote in this anyway. This is going to be really hard for me considering there are so many songs, and I tend to think of albums first so I don't even think about my favorite songs that much. Also there are going to be so many songs named, IDK if you'll be able to even make a list with such a small sample size. Or it'll just be things that made the list because one person voted for it.

Great idea! But I don't expect even a single song on my list to make it. Here are some FYC's:

I’ll try to get something by deadline day but it’ll be tough. In the meantime I’ll post some FYCs every now and then.

I guess I'll throw a couple more favorites out here.
Melanie de Biasio's Blackened Cities
George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue

Get these up and running, you music plebs. Procrastinating verifies music plebbiness even more.
In case of confusion from title......... JUST SEND TOP 25, not Top 100.

I mean, what concerns me about this is both the herculean task of narrowing down my arbitrary and very fluctuating tastes to 25 songs but you're also not going to get anything close to a consensus (I don't think anyone else on here is listening to Iron & Wine as obsessively as me). I mean, even when we agree on artists we'll have different #1 picks (for Tool I'd go with "Forty Six & 2" but I don't think any other Tool fans would) I'm game I guess, but you're going to get 400 different songs in these results.

Some traditional works: Greensleeves is such a gorgeous love song that has stood for centuries. "Alas my love, you do me wrong, to cast me off discourteously." Both a declaration of undying love and a frustrated cry of longing, it has stood for damn good reason. And that tune is to die for, of course. Lovely Joan is one of those rapey old songs that make you uncomfortable, but for rollicking adventure, it doesn't get much better (or funnier) than this. And the twist ending where she steals the man's stuff and bolts is just too good to pass up. "The king has been a prisoner long in Spain... and Willie of the Winsbury has laid long with his daughter at Thames." I have a soft spot for these old "story songs," that are just rhyming conversations that go on for five minutes at a time, and this is one of my favorites.

Gonna FYC most of my On Repeat spotify playlist since they're GOAT tier songs and worth mentioning anyway. Will do 5 at a time every now and then because I'm too lazy to go find links to all the songs now.
