As a kid raised by two parents: Yeah, it can be done. Whatever faults they may have had, raising us to be polite and good-mannered was not one of them. My kids are quite polite and generally good mannered. But toddler aged children specifically, at no fault to how they are raised, will have outbursts or emotional behavior that can’t necessarily be “controlled” in the moment. It still shouldn't be a problem for the bowl I suggest. It is no different from, say, a glass of water on the table. So long as the children aren't COMPLETELY out of control, a washbasin would be a perfectly viable item to put on the table.

The worst thing about Award season is the utter bullshittery of people saying "I told you so!" for some of the most obvious picks.
Nobody thought Will Smith - the frontrunner all year - didn't have a shot at BAFTA or that Jessica Chastain couldn't possibly win SAG either.......or especially that you know, the British actress couldn't win @ BAFTA It's excruciating to read. People just are talking and sharing thoughts and you're not a genius for sharing yours too.....if you want to impress me pick the 2023 winners in March 2022 Slightly behind this is people posting reviews that agree with their opinion on their favorite actor......I get it, you like this actor - do we need 700 posts about how some nobody agrees with you? Only slightly behind both of those - is people saying "it would make me happy if __________ won" for people with one or worse multiple Oscars. Like really - it would make you happy if Nicole Kidman or Olivia Colman wins 2 THIS year? Or if Denzel Washington wins 3 THIS year? GTFO - I don't think Chastain is better this year than Cruz but it won't make me "happy" if Cruz were to win over Chastain........go outside........go kiss a girl......breathe some fresh air........rethink your entire thought process on "deserving" to win an Oscar........."make up wins"........the Oscars in general........and for that matter the word "happiness"............ it's definition and your own "happiness"..........grrrrrrrrr

I think I'm guilty of this one with some of my favorites (Charlotte Rampling, Ava Gardner, etc.) - I'm sure it's annoying, lol - I'm more mindful about what I post now.

Vanessa Hudgens played one of Evan Rachel Wood's friend (altho brief scenes) in Thirteen. I honestly had no idea of that prior to today. She was a nobody in 2003.

* I never really 100% trust people whose favorite movies, books, TV shows, albums are all the "established" ones -- either criticially or pop culture - I mean across all of them exclusively........like if your tastes match the "most acclaimed" tastes match a norm THAT much with nothing weird at all.........I will probably think you're kinda weird * Lia Metcalfe is less than 2 years older than Olivia Rodrigo - one of these two is the future of Rock and Roll and it's not the one who was on Disney or who has won awards from Rolling Stone - and I don't even like Lia's band that much (rated it less than a 7) but come on just on sex appeal - at best you can picture Rodrigo being your cute girlfriend who you get ice cream with........Metcalfe you can picture driving an ice-pick into your lower back at the point of climax, stealing your money, burning your house down with you in it and then making you apologize to her for making her do such a thing.

Went over to my parents' house last week to help clean out their attic, and dug up some old board games from when I was a kid, including Operation, Guess Who, Clue Jr., and Mouse Trap lol. Did anybody ever actually play Mouse Trap the way you're supposed to? I only remember just putting the Rube Goldberg contraption together and trying to get it to work, but the little figurine guy never flipped the way he was supposed to in the commercial. Speaking of which, I've had the Mouse Trap commercial jingle stuck in my head the last few days. After all these years, I didn't expect the lyrics to that song to still be archived in the back of my brain somewhere...

Coming in with perhaps the most obscure reference ever, whenever someone mentions Mouse Trap my immediate thought is the Toy Who Saved Christmas VeggieTales DVD. Wonder if anyone has any idea what I'm talking about.

* Only on MAR can people delude themselves that DDL and Denzel Washington are "close" to teaming up - MAR is like a desperate guy who thinks he's THISCLOSE to fncking the hottest girl at work when she only dates people she doesn't work with and has been engaged for 2 years anyway - sure it's potentially exciting, but it's also far more hilarious and scary and sad.......sorta like imagining your grandfather trying to breakdance - while you worry about him breaking his hip. * What if DDL and Washington do team up .......but in a comedy.....since you know, neither has really pulled off a comic role in what a combined ~ 70 films? * Even though Mia Goth is the best thing about X .........after seeing Ana de Armas in Deep Water - which is also pornographic and a kind of horror itself (as in it sux so much, I was terrified)........ I'd only make a horror-porn film with her - ftw. * The latest poster for The Northman is so f'n awful it's shocking that this is legit - this movie has been suggesting a negative trend too much lately: great premise, great director so far, great cast ...........and then........a so-so action (too) heavy trailer and that Godawful poster. Um, yeah... * If Jessica Chastain wins the Oscar - likely, definitely not a lock- she should do a "she's gone nuts" parody speech where she says "I was going to thank everyone but now knows she did it all herself - because let's face it - "a lot of people think I'm cringey, the movie blew and 6 months ago before precursors everyone thought I'd be lucky to even be nominated" - so she would only like to thank herself obviously no one else helped. Then of course she'd.......thank everyone

I am beginning to realize that my childhood reading Redwall with with all of its violent beheadings and horrific deaths and Watership Down with all of its violence was rather odd. My parents forced those onto me, but heaven forbid that I read Harry Potter or watch an R-rated movie. Thank heaven that they never learned about the part of Final Fantasy VII in which Cloud dresses as a woman to seduce a pimp.

Andrew Garfield and Kirsten Dunst, both Oscar-nominated this year, have been in Spider-Man movies, and Garfield’s character in tick, tick...BOOM! works at the Moondance diner, the same place where Dunst’s Mary Jane works in the first Raimi Spider-Man movie. Just a fun connection that I noticed while watching tick, tick...BOOM! over the weekend.

I will never understand people who sit in outrageously long drive-thru lines when you can usually get faster service just by walking inside and getting your food to-go.
Like I get it if you’re ordering for 10 other people and can’t carry all that out with just two hands, there’s no place to park, it’s freezing or raining outside, or if you have kids in the car that you don’t want to drag inside... but it’s just mystifying to me when I go to this burger joint every week and I see plenty of parking but people are just sitting alone in their car in a drive-thru line that wraps all the way around the building. Meanwhile, I’m strolling out to my parked car five minutes later with my food and see the same cars still in line. I mean I can be pretty lazy at times, but this is just comical to me...

In Italy people who don't have green pass with vaccine or recovering (so being tested isn't enough) can't get in a restaurant. So drive through is the only way to get food.

The word "overrated" has got to be the most misunderstood (or overrated, um) word ever. I think some people who say something like " Meryl Streep is overrated!" are actually saying "Meryl Streep sucks!" - ok, fine, whatever, but just say what you mean. Though if you mean overrated for real, that's fine I guess - but it's hard to always know There are levels to that word - and the level the people are "rated" at - in the first place. Example...... Kevin Spacey is overrated (to me) as a 2 Time Oscar winner, a "GOAT-ish" level US Triple Crown contender (2 Oscars, a Tony, and 6 Emmy nominations) - those are "all time numbers" .....but Kevin Spacey doesnt "suck" as an actor - he is just overrated in terms of the huge award recognition he got.

Oh honey, 'overrated' is in those people who thought that Nicole was gonna win... or overrated as in my happiness that she didn't?

I was just thinking how cool it would have been to be Leonardo DiCaprio as a little kid and have the best excuse to dress up as Leonardo from Ninja Turtles for Halloween... but then I realized that he would have just missed when they were starting to get popular in the late 80s and probably would have been too old to be into it at the time.
Now I like to imagine a 47-year-old DiCaprio mourning that missed opportunity and making up for it by dressing up as Ninja-Turtle Leonardo as an adult and running around his mansion with real katana swords that he spent millions of dollars on at an auction or something... and it’s become a role-play sex thing with his girlfriends.

I think you're getting Leo mixed up with the characters he played in Django Unchained and The Wolf of Wall Street

I have to write an alternate ending for Samuel Beckett's Waiting For Godot for my theatre class and I have absolutely no clue what to write. I guess I could have Godot make an appearance at last but I'm pretty sure the whole class will think of the same thing and, honestly, I think something like that would defeat the whole purpose of the rest of the text.

Oh honey, oh come on... 'As the cord pulled tighter, Lucky suddenly found himself regaining consciousness. He half opened his eyes and the forms which had so vividly been Vladimir and Estragon dissolved into the cloth remnants of what he'd worn last night, carelessly thrown around the room. Pozzo was nowhere to be seen. Somehow he had become tangled in the electric cord of the bedside lamp. Free at last and no longer mute and then as if from some inexplicable far away place, a word entered his head, which he found himself slowly saying; 'Godot'. He didn't know what it meant. None of it made any sense, but at that precise moment he realised that it had all been a dream... THE END.
