Tommen_Saperstein Absolutely love Madeleine Stowe. She could have been an interesting pick.Ditto for Annette Bening. What about Michelle Pfeiffer,Meg Ryan, Julia Robert's, Holly Hunter, Diane Lane, Sharon Stone, Fran Dresher and Uma Thurman? (@tyler I'm interested in your opinion too)

I watched this again last night. I take back what I said, MacDowell is pretty awful in this from start to finish, but some of that can be chalked up to just how thinly written her character is. It's a bit odd how the film succeeds despite the gaping hole that is Charles and Carrie's romance. They literally have no scenes together outside of "oh, so you're leaving/getting married/got divorced" conversations.
