I was about to post this. Sounds interesting. Scott seems to have so many projects in development so I wonder if/when this will happen.

Sounds interesting. Scott always sounds interesting. It's Affleck I can't stand. I like Affleck in some stuff, but I can't imagine him at all in a period piece especially a period piece like this one. This seems Razzie worthy if he actually does it. I know he was in Shakespeare in Love, but director John Madden wisely kept Affleck to a minimum. The movie also didn't take itself that seriously, so there were already wink-wink things that would have been anachronistic if it had been played straight. So Affleck didn't have a chance to stick out like a sore thumb there, imo, but with this, he's going to be one of the leads, and he's actually going to have to do an accent. I'm sure he and Damon will use an English accent, even though it's set in France, but I still think he won't be able to pull that off either. (Although I actually think that actors shouldn't do accents unless it's appropriate for the story because I think it's dumb how period piece equals English accent for most actors.)

I agree accents most of the time are unnecessary. I believe Affleck is not a good actor. A good director maybe and a good Batman. But not a good actor.Playing against Damon in a Scott film is a plus. Plating in a period movie is not... Then again, that's not something new. In most of his films he's Razzie worthy

Sounds great. That topic and story should be something that is totally up my alley, if it's well made. And it should play well into Ridley Scott's cards as well. Hello The Duellists and Gladiator. I'm just worried with all the projects that he is linked to that he won't ever make it. Which would be a shome, cause this is the one that I'm most interested in.
The only thing I'm not happy with would be Ben Affleck and Matt Damon in the lead roles. I would have loved a reunion with Russell Crowe instead. But with them having written the screenplay it will be difficult to get rid of them.

I sort of like the sound of this. Recent Scott is so hit and miss that who knows what'll come of it, but Holofcener has written a few winners so far this decade, so her involvement makes me happy.

So I know most people are criticizing Affleck's involvement, but I think he's a far more interesting actor than Matt "Vanilla's Too Spicy For Me" Damon. Of course, ideally neither one would be in a movie about Frenchmen in the 1400s, but if I had to pick one, I'd definitely opt for Ben.

Wow! I never would have expected this.
While Driver's filmography isn't perfect, I trust that this must be much better than it sounds. Definitely a huge upgrade over Affleck.

That wouldn't be a bad alternative. I liked Driver in nearly everything except the Stars Wars films.
