I suppose it makes sense. Captain Marvel would come in 3/4ths the way through the end battle and win it for Blade anyway....

So Beau Demayo, the showrunner and writer behind Marvel's smash hit animated series X-Men 97, was already involved in the live action side of the MCU and was tasked with completely rewriting the script for Blade.
DeMayo had clearly been earmarked as someone talented enough to be one of the major creators for the MCU going forward. The reaction to his work on X-Men '97 only proves that. I can't understand why, unless it was something illegal he did (which doesn't seem to be the case), why Kevin Fiege and Bob Iger would not move heaven on earth to keep this guy on board. With faith in the MCU at an all time low, you need creatives like DeMayo whom the fans trust with the lore and material. Marvel is in a bad state at the moment. They can't afford to lose talent like DeMayo. The whole era of hiring random writers who aren't even familiar with the source material has to end. DeMayo knows the source material, and that is why fans want him back. Especially for the live action X-Men. I hope Fiege isnt too proud or egotistical at this point to ask DeMayo to come back.
I've read some speculation that maybe DeMayo was making such a big impression behind the scenes, that Feige saw him as a potential threat to his position, if it ever came time for him to be replaced. I don't know if I believe that, but someone has to be able to take over from Feige one of these days, and I'd imagine it be someone who knows Marvel backwards and forwards ( I think it was supposed to be James Gunn, before he went to Warners/DC). So on paper, DeMayo was potentially a successor to Feige as head of Marvel.

De Mayo deleted his social media after he was fired, probably indicating he expected things to come up.
He was also fired from Witcher for alleged bad behavior. This idea he was going to be Feige's sucessor is non-sense, nobody that worked with him seems to like him too much

I hope Ali still gets to play Blade soon. Seems like this project has been going on far too long now and still no shooting dates in sight. Wasting Ali’s prime years smh

This idea he was going to be Feige's sucessor is non-sense, nobody that worked with him seems to like him too much I don't know the ins and outs of who likes DeMayo or not, amongst his colleagues or in the industry. But I will say, that being "liked" by co-workers or staff under you, often has absolutely little to do with promotion or moving up the ladder in certain creative industries like the entertainment/film industry. So many bosses are loathed by people who work with them or under them. A guy named Jim Shooter was the editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics for a about a decade in the 1980's. Very few creators had nice things to say about Shooter and he was generally considered a tyrant. But he was talented and his run as EOC was successful, and that's all that mattered to the owners. The bottom line. It's great when you have a leader people like ( like Feige by most accounts), but it's not a prerequisite for getting the big jobs in these spaces. No one seems to like David Zaslav, yet he got hired to run Warner Brothers and he's still there. Very few people get to the top in Hollywood by being a nice guy. I think if you are doing work people like and it's making profits for the company, the higher-ups will take notice of you (and also if you kiss the right asses ), there's every chance you can get the top jobs in these spaces. So I wouldn't have counted out DeMayo as a potential successor to Feige just because he seemed to have rubbed some of his colleagues or people who worked under him the wrong way. DeMayo is talented and successful and seems to have his fingers on the pulse of what fans want. That is more important to higher-ups who decide whom is going to run the ship. Had he not been fired, DeMayo's stock within Marvel/Disney would have skyrocketed with X-Men 97.He might just have deleted his social media because he was embarrassed and upset about being fired days before the X-Men 97 premiere. Whatever the case, he's back on social media and talking about the show a lot and taking his flowers. He's not saying anything negative about Marvel either or commenting on his firing, which is a smart move, as it stops bridges from being completely burned and may open the possibility for his return.

It's another major setback if DeMayo hasn't completed the script and they have to find another writer. Again. This project seems cursed. And on paper, it should be one of the easiest MCU projects to get into production. You don't need an insane budget. Just look at the first two Blade movies for inspiration, and it's hard to go wrong.

The biggest issue appears to be the script, and Marvel's decision to scale things back.
