If I learned anything about this crappy, insane, cursed and overlong awards season is that test screenings in late March don't mean anything and that the majority of the Academy voters are incredibly petty and childish in voting.

Apparently the roles are all wrong. They might be playing roles inspired by those famous people, though.

I thought it was established none of these characters would be real people. Maybe they're thinly modeled on them but this sounds like some guy making stuff up.

This is probably weird, but this sort of feels like the early Austin Butler winning talk in that I could see a path for both, but if feels way too early for any winning talk for anyone this year imo. Also weirdly I see this actually coming true more than Butler winning despite Butler having the reviews and the role just because someday Robbie has finally got to win and probably sooner than later, right?

Read the script. Not what I expected at all. Kind of a Boogie Nights meets Wolf of Wall Street. Debauchery and all. First act was funny second act was very intense. If Robbie nails the part she could easily win. Juicy part. Pitt should be able to be nominated too.

I read the script a while ago and I absolutely think this is a winning role for Robbie, the early word is that she's fantastic in it.Great role for Brad too,I can definitely see him being at least nominated,Jean Smart may have a shot too.Chazelle should almost certainly land BD/BP noms, although I don't know if I see him winning.

Smart has a nice monologue and can definitely get in if the movie is popular. Not a part I can see winning though. I agree on Picture and Director. Movie is a little too depraved to win.

In the screenplay those are the names of the characters (except Pitt who’s character’s name is Jack and Chaplin who doesn’t appear) These could change.

For some reason, I was picturing this in B&W (probably because of Mank, The Artist, etc.)

For some reason, I was picturing this in B&W (probably because of Mank, The Artist, etc.) So glad this isn't. B&W works great on some films but with a theme as extravagant as in Babylon that would've been quite a shame. Pitt, Robbie and the new star Calva all look amazing...Except for Calva's character they all look somewhat corrupt and crazy.

Well, now that I've seen the trailer, I stand with it will be respected but not adored. Will score a lot of nods though. Margot doesn't seem to be giving off winner vibes here. Pitt looks like he will score s. actor nod.

How is Margot Robbie in two period pieces that feel similar and all over the place in the same season?
Felt like I just watched a different version of the Amsterdam trailer.
