The two greatest are Stanwyck (Double Indemnity) and Fiorentino (Last Seduction) because they know they are femme fatales and actually use humor to comment on it themselves. Two of the great scenes are below and I'd argue Evelyn Mulwray isn't really a femme fatale actually but rather Jake brings that all on himself but.........Gloria Swanson in Sunset Blvd is a femme fatale - not yet mentioned.

Also Eva Marie Saint in North by Northwest.
(Maybe I give it a rewatch, actually...)

Can't believe nobody mentioned Lauren Bacall in The Big Sleep yet.

Anne Bancroft, The graduate. Alida Valli, the Paradine case. Marlene Dietrich and Greta Garbo belong here too.

The femme fatale role is one of my favourites when done right. Many greats mentioned here, but my favourite two are:

I can't believe no one's mentioned Hayworth in The Lady from Shanghai. Also, Laraine Day in The Locket, Gene Tierney in Laura (an arguable example) and Carrie-Anne Moss in Memento deserves mention.

I mentioned this performance in the Classic movie thread (and again in Great Performances thread) and I don't think this has ever been discussed by anyone else: Jean Gillie in Decoy (1946) - a very cheap, very nasty, must see noir with a batshit crazy plot and Gillie as an insanely evil (and joyously so) character. It's not a great movie but it's utterly unforgettable because of her Queen Bitch portrayal.

Stanwyck is all time great but its Fiorentino who hits it outta the park for me. With her semi Veronica Lake hair and that ball busting attitude, she not only took Berg for a ride but me as well. Well worth it. Peter Berg: You're not from around here. Fiorentino: Fuck off. You've been warned.

Joan Bennett in Scarlet Street, a very particularly cruel femme fatale... she's the best
