Finally caught up with this and watched S2 yesterday. Definitely really great and even better than the first season. Honestly think the one main drawback was the finale for me -- felt a bit anticlimatic in comparison to the first finale, and I'm confused about a couple things like what the hell they're doing with the Nueman character -- plus in comparison to S1 which did this really well, it's just a lame cliffhanger, resolving the big mystery set-up in literally the first episode with "well now you have to watch the next season for resolution on this" is just a cheap choice to me. Problems with the finale aside ... and for the most part it was a really great finale ... this was a great, great season, full of some genuinely suspenseful and disturbing moments (nothing quite reaches the shock heights of S1's airplane scene, but I felt like every episode had a scene that had me on-edge in a similar way) and a lot of great humor that also thankfully doesn't drown out the dramatic elements. Anthony Starr who stole the show for me in season 1 absolutely steps up his game, truly crafting one of the most watchable, menacing, and purely diabolical villains in recent memory ... and Aya Cash knocks it out of the park going toe-to-toe with him every step of the way. Great performances all around this season, the level of care put into the acting and writing here continues to impress me, but maybe that's just because I'm subconsciously keeping it in comparison to other superhero properties. Really enjoyed this season and the fact that I haven't binged a show like that in a really, really long time should say something about its pure entertainment value if nothing else...

TVLine names The Boys one of the 10 Best Drama Shows of 2020, at #6. Well deserved, and hope this show can break into the awards derby this upcoming season.

Former President Barack Obama is a fan of The Boys. Nice endorsement that probably won't hurt it's award season hopes.

Yeah, gonna have to give Karl Urban the edge as the best actor on this show, as it seems Antony Starr doesn't have to stretch that much to play Homelander.

Feels like they're about to pull the sheet over their audience. Episode 3 was a complete barnburner in that regard.

Yeah...Starr needs a damn Emmy for this season And I would love to see Jensen Ackles getting a nod for his role too Yeah, as much as I've see the previous 2 seasons as a dead even toss-up between Starr and Urban as to who was the MVP of the show, Starr just had better writing and more layers this season. Urban is still great, but I don't think he's getting the kind of layers in his writing that Starr is. We found out all about his abusive father and tragic brother in the last season, and they just kept doing more of that in the 3rd season to give him more character development. But it was nothing new and felt stale.
Starr takes it this season, but Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy was a huge and pleasant surprise to me. Never watched Supernatural, so had no idea what his abilities were like, but he is a superb actor. He went toe to toe with show powerhouses like Starr and Urban, and came off every bit as good as them as an actor. Look forward to seeing Ackles in more things!

Best season of the show so far, although I have to admit I was a little let down by the season finale. It was still a good episode don't get me wrong, but I guess I was expecting a bigger "pop" for the final episode, no pun intended.

It's so good. Incredible how this show keeps upping the ante in terms of the stakes. The candidate reveal at the end of the last episode was so well played out.

Y'know, for a super edgy show that prides itself on making fun of the usual capeshit tropes, it sure has the most chickenshit cliche writing possible. That finale was 100% MCU nonsense. I couldn't believe what I was watching.
Antony Starr, Jack Quaid, and Jensen Ackles innocent. I'm not coming back for season 4. Also, Karl Urban is sleepwalking through the whole thing. Probably the most unconvincing portrayal of an emotionally stunted badass I've ever seen.

Yeah, the season finale was disappointing. It's pretty clear now this is a show that is dedicated to nothing actually changing and keep the status quo as much as possible.

I thought this season was ok,but I can't believe the way people just ignore how terrible Karl Urban's cockney accent is.It pulls me out of the scene every time I hear it.Antony Starr has been killing it though.I hope the Emmy's remember his performance next year.

Vought Superbowl Ad.
God, I love this show. The ad is a satirical spoof for a deconstructionist superhero show, but it feels incredibly true to the the real world

Magnificent show.
Amazon Prime have really entered into the big leagues with this one. The production values, the writing, the performances...it's proper Event Television....the type of thing that you'll be feeling left out of the cultural conversation if you miss. If the Streaming Wars are bringing us shows of this level and quality, then who are we to complain. I think by Season 2, this show feels like it should be a legit cultural phenomenon ( in the Game Of Thrones, Stranger Things sense of the word). My only complaint (and it might feel like a nitpick) is for a show that seems to pride itself of showing how superheroes might exist in the real world....it felt exceptionally unrealistic that they just relied upon corporate loyalty to keep someone as insanely powerful as Homelander under control. One would assume a company like Vought would also have the means to kill all their "Supes", which would be a much more believable deterrent to keep the likes of Homelander and The Seven in line. Anyway, good luck to HBO's Watchmen, because this show may have well and truly stolen it's thunder. They deal with very similar territory, but I can't see The Boys being bettered . As it is, this show just seriously one-upped Netflixs' Umbrella Academy, which was their big intro into doing original (non-Marvel) material of their own in the genre. Also glad I was right about this show becoming a cultural phenomenon from the start. It did make Amazon the streaming player it's becomem
