For most of my family, we respect each other and just don't engage in political discussions at all. My paternal grandmother is really obnoxiously Republican, though - I have asked her repeatedly to please respect my personal boundaries, but she never does. She buys into all of the Fox News conspiracies about President Obama and Hillary Clinton, etc.... It's so frustrating. Do you have similar experiences?

Nope. They’re conservative (my moms the furthest left out of them all though). Well, they’re left on the social issues, but yeah. They’ll always vote for the conservative party here. 90% of my friends are the same too. Growing up in a small town in Alberta, you don’t see much variance on the political spectrum.

I think some things I think politically are sort of odd in the current climate - like I find Whoopi Goldberg on The View refusing to say "President Trump" far more obnoxious than President Trump himself (and I'm not a fan of his at all). Like the civil discourse has been obliterated entirely to the point where people don't really talk at all. Now having said that, my extended family is European so arguing politics - and not just US politics - is one of the things in our blood and keeps people alive no one shares any political views, everyone yells, but it's healthy and respectful and I learn stuff, I think through a ton of stuff and change too. This board is not healthy in debating actors much less politics - there's people who come on here, I won't say who but everyone knows who they are and talk to each other only about how much they love that actor - I mean why are you here then? Just get your two friends email addresses and have a nice talk or something. For actors that's imbecilic.............. for politics it's .......dangerous.

Also do you believe all the CNN, MSNBC, Young Turks bollocks about the Republicans?

I have a few big disagreements with my parents but overall we actually have pretty similar views. They raised me well.

Sort of. Thing is, my mother and father have quite different political beliefs between them. I'm somewhere in the middle.

My mom is a standard issue neo-con. My dad is not as political, he follows the news (particularly business stuff) but not specifically politics as much. Socially conservative and economically moderate might sum him up. I'd guess he usually votes for Republicans but he doesn't seem to like any Presidents (Trump, Obama, Bush, Clinton, Reagan) I was a precocious kid so I started to form political opinions when I was 11-12 during Bush's first term and generally had conservative views because Fox and talk radio was all I was really exposed to due to my Mom. My political views have zig zagged around somewhat but in general I've gotten more socially liberal over time and remained on the right on economic issues. My partisan allegiance has shifted to being moderately pro-Republican to neutral or maybe slightly pro Democrat just due to the Republicans being so awful. I am still technically a registered Republican, I don't know if I will switch to vote in the Dem primary. I was a poly-sci major in college, generally consume large amounts of news/political writing (particularly when I was a dweeb in High School) and worked at a political PR firm for a while, so my parents sometimes ask what I think about things out of curiosity. My dad voted for Trump because he hated Hillary Clinton so much. My mom said she voted but I was suspicious that she was just saying this to avoid confrontation with my dad. She took some of Trump's comments about women personally and I heard her make positive comments about Gary Johnson and she said she didn't have any personal problems with Hillary Clinton and liked her when she was First Lady. My parents know I voted for Clinton and we just don't talk about it. My parents are awful people in other respects but this is one thing I guess they handle okay.

Oh honey, yes kind of. Both my sister and I agree that we wouldn't sleep with Donald Trump, but we would sleep with Justin Trudeau. She would sleep with Macron but I'm not so sure... Although I'm sure we would both be far too young for him. We would both sleep with Spain's Pedro Sanchez without even thinking about it... I found Mexico's Vicente Fox sexy but she doesn't. We are still undecided on Madura. Chavez is definitely a no no for both of us... Australia's Scott Morrison, maybe... Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, I would but she wouldn't... and I kind of like Joseph Kabila as well. We both agree Peter Pellegrini is a yes! Alexis Tsipras - Yes! Imran Khan, maybe... Roosevelt Skerrit, yes...Xavier Bettel, yes... Vladimir Putin, probably... I mean, I should really be working for the UN.

Oh honey, even though she does look kinda cuddly, she's not my type... but I suppose if I was called to do it to save the world from economic catastrophe or to avert a nuclear missile attack...
Cherry, who would you sleep with? I hear where you are, they have some really fun bunga bunga parties... have you been to one of those?

I don't know.
My brothers and I all live in different countries and usually meet once a year on my mother's birthday. As we only have little time together, there is so much more to talk about than politics.

Well yes, my mother is. Just not about this. What kind of man lets a woman abuse them? How about a three year old or elementary school aged kid? IDK why you feel the need to judge my personal life based on an off the cuff comment I made at the end of an unrelated post. Everyone already thinks you're an asshole, you don't have to try harder.
