Comedy..... Lawrence and it's not close. I think Lawrence is the best current comedian. I'd say when it comes to their comedic talent Emma has demonstrated far more range: I don't think Jennifer Lawrence has shown nearly as much comedic range. And we know for a fact that she's awful at stage comedy as can be seen in her SNL monologue below when she butchered several punchlines with her bad delivery and demonstrated a total lack of comedic timing. It's no wonder they never invited her to host again in ten years despite her being one of the biggest stars in the world. Emma on the other hand is one of the very few females who hosted SNL five times as she always delivers.
Not a shade at Jen though, one does not have to excel at all types of comedy to be great which she clearly is, but if you pit her against Emma who can do it all then someone labeled as the best comedic actress should be able to match her.

In 2012 I would've said Lawrence and it isn't close... how tables have turned. I wouldn't have assigned so much range and ambition to the cute chick from Zombieland.

It really is unfortunate that Jennifer Lawrence has really dropped off the conversation here with the roles she picked and gaps in her recent career. Whereas it was easy to say she has the higher highs, now it feels like Stone has closed in on that gap with Poor Things, La La Land, The Favorite.
I still innately prefer Lawrence and think she oozes natural charisma and presence - she just *fits* for some of the darker material that she’s tackled, and I will remain partial to her performance in Winter’s Bone forever.
But the reality is that Stone has managed to impress more consistently and surprisingly in the past decade, by working on a range of projects with different directors rather than getting “stuck” the way Lawrence did.
I hope Lawrence bounces back with better projects, bc I’d love to see it. I think I also just love her off screen personality and hated the way media/public opinion wrote her off when she was at the height of her fame.

The last time I liked a JLaw performance was Mother. Was really hoping to like No Hard Feelings but it left absolutely no impression. Stone, on the other hand is operating on a God level for quite a while, giving one legit great performance after other, it's kinda annoying really just how perfect her filmography is becoming 😛 So yeah, Stone all the way and it's not quite close.

Emma Stone by far and I haven’t even seen Poor Things and Cruella.
Jennifer Lawrence has a grand total of 1 strong performance from 13 years ago. Her Oscar win is one of the worst ever and she’s painfully unfunny and annoying.
