It seems like it’s gonna be tough for anything to beat GOT in its last season, but obviously the reception has just been so divided and shrouded in negativity. I think back to when people were predicting Lost to win its last season just for its incredible run and it (pun intended).. lost.
I think if any show has a strong push to knock GOT down, it’s Killing Eve. MAYBE This Is Us. But with Sandra Oh a more than likely win for Drama Actress, it may help Killing Eve plant it’s feet amongst its competition.

Mmm, I don't really follow the television award races that much, but I thought Game of Thrones would have more competition. I know Ozark did well at SAG, and Bodyguard feels like it has some heat because of how buzz worthy it is, but I agree I just don't really see any of these series being able to beat GOT. I agree that if one does that Killing Eve probably has the best chance because as you said Sandra Oh will likely win Best Actress, and I feel that her win plus buzz around the show might be enough to win against GOT. Maybe This Is Us because of the SAG Ensemble win, but I feel like the buzz has started to wane somewhat from the first two seasons. I could be wrong about that, but I remember everyone talking about the crockpot episode or when the daughter lost her baby, and I didn't really see that this season at all.

I still think Thrones wins on sheer popularity. Saul doesn't have recency on its side, sadly.

If half of its competition hadn't chicken out and moved to the second semester, it would lost. The last season enraged fans and critics, it'd be really anticlimatic and I don't think the fans would approve it. Thing is: what wins then? Only show that seems strong enough is Killing Eve.

Normally you would say that obviously it will, but the backlash has been so huge and public that you could easily see something beating it, if... There was anything that had come out at the right time that got anywhere near the kind of massive acclaim it'd take to counter Game of Thrones popularity, and I don't think there is one. I think it'll probably win, and that'll be so fucking funny.
The way that Emmy has treated this show and Breaking Bad before it, only giving them the big win after they had turned to shit (and its ratings catapulted) just makes a mockery of them. It's worse than the Oscars.

I still think Thrones wins on sheer popularity. Yeah, that!! After all, it was GoT last season.

I have very little time and respect for the Emmys, but if Game of Thrones wins, it'll be a farce and my respect level will be at zero.

I can see Bodyguard pulling off a surprise victory. It was HUGE, it's gonna get some acting buzz, and... well, what the fuck else is there?
