Finally up the season 6. Woo. I love how Oleg went from stock antagonist character to probably my favorite character in the whole show. Fucking brilliant testament to how wonderful the writing is. What'd you think of season 5? A lot of people were meh on it for being such a slow burn where nothing really happens, but I loved it. It was a perfect "calm before the storm" season, and trust me buddy... the storm comes in season 6. Definitely agreed on Oleg... dude was almost comic relief in the earlier seasons (I especially loved when he discussed his crush on Blondie) but became one of the most important characters on the show in a totally believable way. I thought S5 was great. The only thing bringing it down was probably the diminished focus on the FBI... but it did allow for increased focus on Oleg, so I guess you have to take what you can get. A big headscratcher, though is Wright's nomination. She wasn't bad... but she was so, so, so much better in S4, where a nomination would have made more sense.

Up to 6.08... not even before the credits and I can see why Rhys won the Emmy this year.

I'm finished.
Thoughts will come as soon as they're done stewing in my brain.

It's tough for me to comment/review 70ish hours of media in the span of 1 1/2 months of viewing. But this was absolutely stellar. I finished the other day and just let it brew. The finale is gut-wrenching. My stomach dropped during the train scene. I love and am repulsed by these characters at the same time. Incredible. Rhys & Russell forever <3

My big thing with the whole finale was Stan coming home to his wife who may or may not be a Russian agent. Now that was some scary shit... especially now that Philip warned him about her.

Now that was some scary shit... especially now that Philip warned him about her. for the most I was reacting to the helplessness that the parents had to have been feeling at that point because when my stomach dropped I thought the police had initially pulled her off the train.
And yeah I thought that was an interesting and albeit fulfilling conclusion to the Stan storyline because I just think he was done after the parking garage

They are incredibly repulsive people. Philip isn't repulsive. I don't think Elizabeth is either. I'd say she's more brainwashed/delusional.

They are incredibly repulsive people. Philip isn't repulsive. He's killed innocent people, extorted, lied (hell in Philip's case he married a woman!), and many other things. Don't get me wrong... I love the show and most of its characters, but they are truly awful people.

I wouldn't put Ned or Locke in that company (and Sawyer too)... but yeah. They're all pretty awful human beings otherwise.

They're all pretty awful human beings otherwise. Lord Stark starts wars that kills thousands of people, beheads men fleeing for their lives. John Locke gets people killed, stabs your woman in the back based on little to no evidence. Sawyer killed the wrong man, steals money from people, uses people.

Again, it doesn't mean I think they're bad characters (quite the opposite... Philip and Elizabeth are wonderfully three dimensional characters with many admirably traits to go along with their lesser ones)... but they're just really, really bad people.

Repulsive is the wrong word. Are you telling me you couldn't sit down and talk with Tony Soprano for a few minutes? Also Lord Stark is the finest man there is.

Just finished up with Bojack and want to start a new series. Seems like this show has a lot of love on this board and I don’t have a clue what it’s about and want to go into it blind. Can anyone give some comparisons of the tone of show to the likes of other movies/shows?

Can anyone give some comparisons of the tone of show to the likes of other movies/shows? Not sure what I’d compare to but it’s slower paced and continually builds up. Easily one of the best shows in the history of television.
