Nice looking trailer and film poster! Looks classily made too..I made a good investment ordering HBO Max for 2021.
Academy Award Winner Denzel Washington Academy Award Winner Rami Malek Academy Award Winner Jared Leto
How’s the trunk space? Probably big enough to fit 4 Oscars into.

Looks like a good little thriller with a bit more prestigeness attached to it then your average badass Denzel flick. Honestly surprised that Leto got above the title billing. I would have expected him to have the "and" credit.

I would have expected him to have the "and" credit. Leto's billing (and maybe the role itself) was probably in part WB trying to repair the damage to their relationship after they kind of bumped him out of the Joker role so Joaquin Phoenix could do his version. I remember there was a big expose about Leto being really upset with WB when he found out another version was being done after Suicide Squad, and trying to stop Phoneix's version from being made. Even though he behaved pretty obnoxiously on Suicide Squad with his "method" antics annoying some co-stars, there was a bit of sympathy for him in the industry, as the Joker role was supposed to be exclusive to him for a few years.

Makes total sense, I just assumed that Leto playing the villain meant he deserved that kind of credit. However clearly, WB really want to sell the movie.

That makes sense too. Wouldn't surprise me at all if he got cast in the movie in the first place as a studio apology for semi-withering down his role in Suicide Squad, especially since it looks like he also's playing a real psycho in this film.

Exactly, I think to answer your question it’s both scrud’s and I explanations. They gave him this billing/profile as an olive branch and also WB probably paid a hefty penny to have these three guys onboard..so they’re going to promote the hell out of them like look at all these Oscar winners in the main roles of our film. Honestly..the trailer had a prestige feel to it with the string music and everything. If this were saying it was coming out in October or along those lines it would be a contender to look out for.

It looks like a semi-contender that WB probably realized was better suited to be more of a early release, and eventually a big platform movie for their streaming service. Honestly nothing wrong with that at all. The strangest thing about the trailer to me though, is how little Malek is in it versus Leto, especially since he's playing Denzel's partner.

Just got to see the trailer and I liked it. Looks very interesting.
But I dunno, somehow I don't feel Malek is the right man for the role... We'll see.
On the other hand, Leto looks spot on.

I like the tone and atmosphere of the trailer and I hope I didn't guessed all the "twists" The whole cast looks good and I missed my main man.

Could be really generic but could also be really good. Either way, I'm definitely tuning in.

Has Denzel ever discussed the jones he has for playing cops?

Has Denzel ever discussed the jones he has for playing cops? I honestly think he's played a lot of them mostly because they tend to offer him the opportunity to play race neutral roles in big studio films. Cops, detectives, investigators etc are the most common protagonists in thrillers and action films. I doubt he gives a shit about playing Cops specifically. If the protagonist is a Railway engineer ( Unstoppable) or a Transit worker ( The Taking Of Pelham 1-2-3), he more than likely does it because of the kind of film it is, not because of the job of his character. He wants to be in commercially minded films that people see and it's worked for his career.

I just thought he had admiration for them from childhood or something like that.

Well, Jared Leto is actively promoting the movie on Twitter, so he's probably happy with how it turned out. He seems the type to ignore a movie he's in (then trash it later ) if he doesn't like the result.

surprised to see Malek relegated mostly to the background here. He’s probably the actual killer.

Also looks like these guys brought their A-game to this project as well..even though it’s a snippet. I’ll be curious to see the critical reception to this..Hancock is not a critics pet but he is a respected screenwriter who has had some critical successes directing in Saving Mr. Banks and The Founder. He has a great cast to work with..so let’s see if he delivered on his 30-year dream project.

The poster is really nice. That trailer is OTOH feels pretty generic. The actors can probably elevate this into something solid or worthwhile, but that trailer did nothing to change my thoughts that Hancock is miscast as the director here and isn’t well suited for the genre.

If you go in hard wanting to dislike something, chances are you'll force yourself to dislike it. The project is getting good early buzz and most people think the previews look solid. I understand you invested a lot on this thread in arguing Hancock being a shitty director (I disagree, but no point rehashing that), but at this stage, why not just wait for reviews and give it a chance,? If the reviews suck, you'll be vindicated.

If the reviews suck, you'll be vindicated. lol We’re not going to do this. We’re not going to act like I don’t view things with an open mind or that I’m not capable of being objective. Here’s what I said about the News of the World trailer when it dropped “I’m not wowed by what I’m seeing. I can’t quite put my finger on what it is, but something isn’t clicking for me.” And that was my most anticipated film this year. There’s nothing outrageous about my take on Hancock, especially when his recent venture into somewhat similar territory flopped. If I’m wrong, so be it. I’m not desperate to prove myself right all the time about these things and time will tell!

I thought you were trying to argue that the film wasn't good before the trailer dropped (when the only thing we had to go on was Steve Pond saying the film was good).
It's no biggie either way.
