I agree. From these cast announcements and what I've heard about the script for this, Hancock has a good project on his hands. Funny enough, I think this project would've been perfect for someone like Dan Gilroy to direct, but he likes to direct movies that he's written the script for. With the increasing prestige potential of this project, and the very obvious potential of Macbeth, do you reckon Denzel probably has his 9th Acting Nomination sewn up come next season? Seems like he may be moving his way to Jack Nicholson's Oscar record at a decent clip. Most definitely I think he does. Its obvious he's revered by his peers and if he's tackling something as big as MacBeth for Joel Coen, then I think he'll get nominated at least. He might win his 3rd for that, especially if Coen is bringing his own unique sensibilities to this adaptation a la O' Brother Where Art Thou? But Denzel having two great projects for 2020 does bolster his chances considerably.

Yeah, being robbed by Casey Affleck for Fences as well doesn't hurt his chances for an eventual 3rd with the Academy either. We'll see how things go.

Status has switched to filming now.
Terry Kinney (always a plus) is in the cast. John Schwartzman doing cinematography....

Might see this for Denzel, but yikes on the rest - very bland crew, and from what I've seen overrated Malek doesn't give other actors much to work with and Leto is insufferable in villain roles, if that's who he's playing....

I don't like to judge people by their looks but it seems like to be the case..

I know this isn't much to go on with the photos but I wonder if they will have almost all their scenes together - Washington rarely shares the spotlight to another male (or anyone really) but Malek could be a co-lead here.

This has now wrapped as of last week. Leto can go back to looking normal um, unless he likes that look....... Must be a lot of interior scenes or a tight set all the photos that leaked seem to be from a couple calendar days total only.

Before people say it, this is not gonna get a qualifying run for 2020.
WB is straight up dumping it.

Gee, so his 15th or so de facto cop role may actually be paying diminishing returns at age 65+ like would have happened for every f'n actor ever? Go figure. Maybe they can save it in post - I thought this might actually be a comedy or have comedic overtones which would be good (and needed) on his filmography if it worked out. Looking forward to Macbeth in the meantime of course....

He still has Macbeth which is high on my most anticipated list in 2020........

No....he does the movies he wants and he's still got his legacy so commence dirt off shoulders....

He most certainly is not pressed - he's a top ~15 US film actor ever imo - and Macbeth (at least) could be a key part of that legacy ........looking forward to it and hopefully they get something good in post-production out of Little Things....like I said, it happens sometimes.

Okay, I honestly can't see this becoming an Awards thing at this stage, but apparently Steve Pond from The Wrap has seen The Little Things and thinks Washington and Leto should be Awards Season contenders for their performances and has listed the film among 5 movies he thinks could shake up the Oscar race (the others being already assumed awards season films such as The United States Vs Billie Holiday, Malcolm And Marie, Judas And The Black Messiah)
www.thewrap.com/oscars-5-films-from-2021-that-could-shake-up-2020-race/
“The Little Things” (Warner Bros.) Three Oscar-winning actors — Denzel Washington, Rami Malek and Jared Leto — deliver strong performances in “The Little Things,” the toughest and darkest movie that John Lee Hancock (“The Blind Side,” “Saving Mr. Banks”) has made since “A Perfect World” in 1993. Leto undergoes the kind of physical transformation that is often catnip to voters, but Washington, in an understated way, is every bit as impressive: Stripped of his usual charisma and energy and looking his age (65) and then some, he delivers a weary, haunted performance as a small-town detective haunted by his past. While the film is more under the radar than most of the potential awards releases in early 2021, it’d be a shame to overlook a disquieting drama anchored by strong and subtle performances.
