Facebook was all a buzz about this the other day. Couldn't believe the disgusting reactions I was reading, but I guess it really shouldn't surprise me.

I wonder how much the announcement will affect the box office. It's certainly going to hurt it, but if the movie can still make over a billion it would send a pretty terrific message.

@tepebenjamin
It was honestly just one of those stupid random ass jokes I made... I just thought "I'll say something about Sebastian!"... then I was like, actually Under the Sea could be an allegory for being in the closet. Pure happenstance.

I love those kind of movie theories.

Wonder what this "exclusively gay moment" will be in a family movie.

What a strange think to say, a companies never force you to watch a movie, by not presenting it, by not giving the paying the audience to watch or not, you are forcing your views on them much more than the other way around, (it is pretty much impossible to force people to watch movie they do not want to see, that showing down our throats type of comments sound always stupid to me).
That said, obviously theater can choose what to play or not and already they do not show most movie, 700 movie get a theatrical release, thousands more movies are made, not many theater play even 30% of them. No need to make a big statement about what of the many hundreds of new movies that you could show this weekend you choose to not play.

Wonder what this "exclusively gay moment" will be in a family movie. Probably LeFou declaring his love for Gaston or another male character. Don't see anything non-family-friendly about that.

I do wonder which movies they play, so that I'd know when Jesus or God is sitting by me

I love when movies like this make these big statements. The 'exclusively gay moment' is probably him smiling at a dude or something. But no, how brave!

Why would you want 'God or Jesus' sitting beside you when you were watching a movie, I'd imagine that'd be a terrible distraction. Also, now I can't help wondering how 'God and Jesus' would behave in a cinema...would they be talkers, noisy eaters, spend the whole movie messing about on their phones. All that aside though, in the event of the 'second coming', I'd like to think that 'God and Jesus' might have better things to do than go to the cinema.

I wasn't particularly interested in this film, but I may actually pay and go see it if more stupid reactions like this one come up.

23% (and 8% maybe) of Gleen Beck follower (would not have suspected they were the target audience that much) plan to see Beauty and the Beast in theater !?!!
I imagine some are lying saying yes when that is not the case just because of the politic aspect of the question, but that movie will be a box office beast, no movie that are not star wars are seen by 20% of the population now a day (that would be around 600 million at the box office).
No other movie this year except the next Star Wars would have come close to that I imagine.

I wonder if anyone could find a list of movies that Alabama theater has shown that have graphic violence and sex. I bet they showed Hacksaw Ridge Seriously, if you choose not to release a film because one of the characters is gay, you must have a really really really really small list of things that don't offend you. That statement reads like it could have been drafted by Anita Bryant circa-1977. Whyyyyyy are so people so slow to evolve their small minds.

This is their websiteLooks like Rogue One is the only PG-13 listed, but someone on their Facebook claims they showed Ted 2 and Fifty Shades Darker? Impeccable site design, by the way.

1. Didn't Good Luck Charlie do a gay couple first?
2. Seriously, people? This could all be as overblown as the Finding Dory "lesbian couple", for all we know. (Yes, that was a thing.)
3. And so what if it's not? LeFou was already incredibly sycophantic and gushing in the animated rendition, so it's not like this was drastic. I mean, was it necessary to give the character more attention and depth? Maybe not, but good on them for trying something different. Furthermore, it's PG. What do you expect to happen? Is it really that sinful to feel sympathetic to someone like him? Does the idea of it honestly repulse you so much that you're willing to revert to the hatefulness Jesus spoke against? I could get into much bigger hypocrisies (Like God loves you no matter who you are, yet you have to conform to his very specific and strict guidelines to get VIP status), but that's a topic for another day.
4. And this is the sadist in me, but I'm disappointed Disney didn't keep this a secret. The outcry after people saw it would have been hilarious.
