A Best Actress streak of McDormand-Colman-McDormand is something I can get behind. 3-times Academy Winner Frances McDormand is the only thing that can clean up the dirt of tonight's ceremony tbh Especially if she gives a speech to the effect of "What the fuck were you all thinking last year?"

I told you bitches... ROMA was not winning. Can you please predict Chloe Zhao getting a BD nod next year? LMAO. We shall see. I mentioned weeks ago that I was okay if I picked the winner wrong (it was between The Favourite/Green Book) but I have always said Roma was not winning,

This won Best Editing! What the fuck? I genuinely believe a high school student using final cut for the first time couldâve done better editing than what we got in this scene. I was getting flashbacks to that âfind the shot that lasts five seconds) gag in Nostalgia Criticâs Moulin Rouge review

King didn't thank Barry Jenkins... or did I miss something? UGH. Just watch Malek do the same. Wrong. Regina King did acknowledge Barry Jenkins - it was at the beginning of her speech and the camera panned to him.

I know it's going to get tremendous backlash now since it won, but I still like Green Book for what it was.
Poor Amy Adams and Glenn Close.
Not a fan at all but Gaga's black dress was pretty badass. Liked Rachel Weisz and Irina Shayk's dresses too.

First year I haven't watched the ceremony since The English Patient. Doesn't seem like I missed much, though I am THRILLLLLLLED about Colman. Didn't see that coming. Very happy for Spider-Verse and that's about it.

There Will Be Thinkpieces. I really, really don't get why people get so angry about what does or doesn't win at the Oscars/Grammys or whatever these days. They're high school superlatives for celebrities. Who the fuck cares? I know it's going to get tremendous backlash now since it won, but I still like Green Book for what it was. Poor Amy Adams and Glenn Close. Not a fan at all but Gaga's black dress was pretty badass. Liked Rachel Weisz and Irina Shayk's dresses too. tan people wearing black is seriously the best I just liked it cause' she looked like a noir femme fatale.

Yeah, it was really surprising how lighter this ceremony was regarding its pacing. Having no host and no "funny" bits was a real gift after all. They should keep up with that next year. Other than like a third of the winners, I liked that it went by so fast without a host. Still went over 3 hours, but I've watched too many ceremonies that were still going past midnight so I'll take running a little over that. Well, they gave us what is arguably the best Oscar-winning speech by an actress ever (AND for a genuinely brilliant performance). A classic Oscar moment. And then a foreign movie won Directing for the first time in 91 years... another historic event. That's more than what they give us most years, so I'm not complaining. True. While it would be wonderful if they would have awarded anything but GB and BR, it takes time. Unfortunately every year we're not going to get a Birdman or Moonlight. Plus, the pundits did turn out to be correct in that there was some backlash over a small film like Moonlight winning. Not to mention the backlash against GB had unintended consequences where I think it made voters dig in harder in supporting it. If there wasn't the backlash maybe Roma or another alternative might have emerged.

Poor Amy Adams and Glenn Close. Adams is young and at the peak of her career, I'm sure she'll win eventually. She's very smart with her choices and seems like a lovely person to work with, meaning she'll continue to be highly in demand. More importantly, she wasn't predicted to win. She lost everywhere including the two televised precursors for which the eventual winner wasn't nominated; she couldn't even beat an Oscar snubbee for SAG. The nomination was the reward in her case, and I'm sure she knew it. Close, though, was widely penciled in as a lock. Her case hurts much more because it was a perfect storm for her to finally win it, and that's exactly what all the signs were pointing towards. That one must sting much more.

Despite my earlier comment about whining about not winning this is admittedly very funny. Poor Amy Adams and Glenn Close. Adams is young and at the peak of her career, I'm sure she'll win eventually. She's very smart with her choices and seems like a lovely person to work with, meaning she'll continue to be highly in demand. More importantly, she wasn't predicted to win. Her case hurts much more because it was a perfect storm for her to finally win it, and that's exactly what all the signs were pointing towards. That one must sting much more. Ehh, I hadn't really followed the precursors at all. Just commenting on getting a bunch of noms without winning.

Okay I absolutely hated his win, but I do have to admit that this made him a little bit more tolerable to me right now. This is something that I would do in real life somewhere, so I can totally relate.

Lmao Jennifer Lawrence tripping on the stairs has nothing on this. He is presumably going to become one of the biggest movie stars in the world now on the basis of being like, sooooooooo relatable and such a regular person just like you.
