I saw The Mother on Thurs night - only two nights away from being in the audience with Woody Allen? Damnnn I never did have good timing.
There are scattered rumors she would have a role in this next movie, but I figured they were just out there bc she's mentioned several times she would work with him. I think they'd be a perfect match actually and this is a good sign she might actually be in this, and if with Bardem too? We're talkin' swoon.

One of the great things about Woody and I am the first to admit that you don't consistently get great things from him now is of course he can always write - if anyone learned anything from First Reformed is never count out a genuine great writer out, because there are not many great writers period.
Huppert by the way is exciting to see working in English - I adored her performance in Greta - I pretty much always adore her anyway and I very much liked the "joke" in Greta where she repeats an English phrase (ie "you stick like gum") - this pops up often in the film - which is sort of an ominous/humorous touch and you could see Allen adding in a film as a writers device and getting a lot of mileage out of it.........when you think of actresses Woody has worked with and not just the big ones but ones like Davis, Rampling, Page, Rowlands, she would seem a perfect fit in his filmography.

Some more infos/speculation. (Admittedly stolen partly from the AwardsWatch movie board)
From producer Jaume Roures (Google translation):
Apparently shooting begins this July in San Sebastian.
Any ideas?
And there's this old tweet from this guy, suggesting a possible cast including Julianne Moore, Huppert, Diane Keaton & Bardem. (What a cast that would be!)
Regarding a cinematographer, do you folks have any preferences/wishes?
Storaro again? Darius Khondji, Javier Aguirresarobe (who also did Blue Jasmine and his other Spain-set Vicky Cristina Barcelona)? Others?

It's not worth her while or the backlash. Keaton is long past her prime and a Woody friend and apologist, so I can see that. And Huppert and Bardem are European and their ability to work is not dictated by the Hollywood marketplace. So they have little to fear. Moore is an American actress, still viable in leading roles who primarily works in American film. Working with Allen at this point of his (and her) career would be an incredibly stupid move. She'd end up like Kate Winslet during the Wonder Wheel press tour, struggling to bat away questions as to why she's working with an accused/alleged peadophile. Or like Timothee Chalamet, having to issue an apology for working with him. Working with Allen could really hurt Moore's marketplace value, and she's not getting any younger.

I really would love to see Moore and Huppert in something together - Moore when she's really on her game can be almost as daring as Huppert (as much as anyone could be) in roles she takes and in how she plays them too - I often say that her role and performance in Safe is classic and something you could see Huppert in too. I'm not sure who I'd like for a cinematographer but Woody is always great in regards to that. Every time I see something on this film I really can't believe with Woody, Scorsese, Polanski, all shooting big films with desirable casts at 80 or close to it this year or being released this year that Coppola isn't thinking "Damn I could do something too"

Thanks for the official "dumb opinion." Most people in Hollywood aren't morons and probably know Woody is innocent, so Moore has little to fear. Hope her or an even bigger & more mainstream name gets announced soon so I can laugh at your face!! 😆😆

Or rather, Justice High, since Moore led a movement to get the name changed because Stuart was a confederate soldier. I'm not taking sides one way or another here, but for someone who is so against "SJWs" yelling about things, you seem to have missed that Moore has shown evidence of being one of them. A different issue, yes, but this is Hollywood. You either fit in line with the majority or you don't. You don't play both sides.

So a noted "SJW" like Moore is going to break ranks with her #metoo brethren to appear in a long-past-his-prime Woody Allen film? He's name would be dirt to her crowd if she did that. Moore has plenty to fear. It's no longer business as usual for Allen in this climate. He can still get big-ish actors, but they are most likely to be Europeans who don't need to work in Hollywood or his outspoken friends (Alec Baldwin, Keaton etc)

All I remember is me pointing out what a pathetic hypocrite you came across on the Michael Jackson topic, and your overmatched witless ass replying with some utterly impotent personal insults. In your deluded empty brain, I guess that counts as a win, but you're so beneath me I need binoculars to see you. I'm sure girls tell you that all the time. 😆 Now go to a preschool and see if you can find at least 1 student there who finds you intimidating, you dickless wanker.

From this apparently legit French publication... (translated) www.satellifax.com/fr/tour/news/270217/?free=0Seems too specific to be fake casting news, probably only some of the cast anyway, since Gershon isn't an American star of "great international dimension" like the producer suggested, right?

Louis Garrel in the Polanski AND the Allen - clearly if Satan was directing a film he'd be the lead. Garrel ftw!!

Le Parisien confirmed the casting. I wonder who else will join... already a fine international cast... What could the plot be to involve them all...
Fun fact - now the four leads in Carnage will have worked with Woody too. Jodie Foster and John C Reilly had bit parts in Shadows and Fog. Who else worked with both? Adrien Brody, Ewan McGegor, Hugh Grant, Mia Farrow....

Good to hear this is moving forward. Waltz is obviously the biggest name of the bunch mentioned, but honestly, I could do without him. I'm partly Austrian, and he's a fine actor, but his shtick gets on my nerves lately. Lopez and Anaya ...aaaaand Bardem please. And obviously Huppert. We must have Huppert! We must all have Huppert forthwith!

What are our thoughts on Gina Gershon?
For this leading role, if I could pick... my mind goes right to Holly Hunter, Parker Posey, Jul Moore, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Sharon Stone, Tomei, or idk though older there’s Judy Davis, Susan Sarandon, Sigourney Weaver, Barbara Hershey….
But I don't not like Gershon - from what I've seen I like her in Red Oaks and City of Hope, gotta give her credit for doing Killer Joe, and I watched Face/Off too many times as a kid so that one comes to mind. What big ones am I missing? This part is a big opportunity for her... and opposite Waltz/Garrel....

What big ones am I missing? This part is a big opportunity for her... and opposite Waltz/Garrel.... Wally Shawn! Yes! But what? That's it? Where's the "great international actress/star"? Are we sure Waltz/Gershon are the American couple (Anaya & Garrel seem clear though)? Not the most exciting names to be honest, but if the script is good I'm fine. As I've mentioned, Waltz bores me a bit, but I kind of like the idea of Gershon. Big opportunity for her and she has an appealing presence. The last time I've seen her was in the (not good) House of Versace. She has acted in some interesting things over the years, Bound, The Insider ("Mike... Mike... Mike..." - "Mike? "Mike." Try "Mr. Wallace" 😄) etc. She has a tough sensuality about her and at the moment I can't quite picture her giving the part more depth than "bored but sexy as hell housewife falling in love". But obviously I know nothing about the characters. Even if you consider Woody probably didn't have that many options to cast the American parts in the current (stalinistic) climate, I don't think he would have chosen her if he wasn't convinced about her abilities. It sometimes doesn't seem like it, especially in recent years, with Woody assembling a rather random cast for his movies, but I think he knows pretty clearly what he wants for a certain part, so that gives me confidence in that particular casting decision.

Working title Rifkin’s Festival - Allen was asked about calls for a "boycott" and the #MeToo movement at Tuesday’s press conference. "My philosophy has always been, from when I started many, many years ago in show business, to just keep focused on my work and keep working, no matter what happens in my life, with my wife, with children, with current events, with politics, with illness," he said. "No matter what is happening, I focus on my work and I keep focusing."www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/woody-allen-spain-i-dont-think-political-social-movements-1222867?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_source=t.co&utm_medium=referral
