January Jones in Taboo has immediately sprung to mind, as she really was utterly goddamn awful.

Julian Sands in basically everything 😵😵😵 I've never liked his acting, but I met him about five years ago and he's a really, really nice guy, so I held my tongue in regards to my opinion on his acting.

You guys are way too harsh. There are hundreds of performances in B-movies way worse than anything mentioned so far. Chris Klein in Street Fighter: The Legend Of Chun-Li may be as bad as it gets though. Fascinatingly awful. I'm just gonna leave that there.

I guess Tommy Wiseau in The Room makes a whole category of his own, so does his so-called film.
From the movies and performances mentioned above, Keanu Reeves was annoying in Dracula while the whole cast of Batman and Robin was laughable in an awful movie.
JLo and Ben Affleck usually cannot act at all, just like Marky Mark in the Happening and Hayden Christensen in Star Wars (especially ep. II) was a disaster.
But the true disaster took place in a high profile movie and her name was Sofia Coppola.

Honestly? Nic Cage in Peggy Sue Got Married. He was horribly miscast, and every single choice he makes is just embarrassing. He's so bad, like he's putting on effort to be that bad, that he becomes incredibly punchable. I just wanted to kill him with my bare fists for nearly ruining the whole goddamn movie while Kathleen Turner is giving her best to save it. And I really just wanted to punch FF Coppola to death for being so blind by nepotism and really believing that horrible, unhinged, cringe-worthy, disgusting piece of acting was good enough to be a romantic lead - as unappealing as it was to anyone with two functioning eyes.

Well if we're talking greatest then...let's not forget the real Oscar winning performance:
I keep thinking of sitting through that movie just to enjoy the splendor and majesty of Redmayne's performance.

A very, very good interview. And I totally get why she hated working with him.

Eric Bana, all - I'm the author of "Can you name a worse actor than Eric Bana?" on the old IMDb boards. I wasn't swayed by any of your arguments. He should have his acting license revoked. And before you say Chopper, Vince Colosimo could have given you that performance.
Natalie Portman, Revenge of the Sith - Hayden Christensen's performance wasn't the worst in the film.
Keanu Reeves, My Own Private Idaho - "Great psychedelic papa". Yep.
Glenn Close, Air Force One. That vacant stare, that's all you get. Her Academy Award should have come with The World According to Garp, where she played mother to Robin Williams' titular character. I dare say Williams would have been up for the role of her husband in The Wife.
Andi Garrett, I Saw What You Did - the only one to make Sofia Coppola look like Meryl Streep.

I usually don’t keep a list or great memory of bad performances so I’ll go with the one that sticks out most in my mind and that’s...
Julianne Moore in Magnolia. Its not only just a bad performance but it’s a bad performance in a great film, it’s a bad performance from a great actress and it’s a bad performance from a Director who routinely gets amazing performances from his actors. It detracts from the film and it makes me wonder what was actually going on and how it stayed in.

Annette Bening, American Beauty
She's generally a terrific actress, but absolutely nothing about that performance works for me. Unbelievably grating and histrionic.

Anne Hathaway - The Dark Knight Rises
Not that I think this stands out as something that's even bad for her standards of horridness. Rather just naming a random representation of a terrible actress.

So many performances in low grade horror have been worse than this, but then again who the hell will have seen the ones I might mention. So sticking with something people might have seen, that being the worst performance I've seen from an actor with a reasonably good career:
January Jones in Taboo

The worst I can remember: The cast of 'Movie 43' Mark Wahlberg and Zooey Deschanel - The Happening Adam Sandler - Jackie and Jill Rooney Mara - Pan, The Nightmare on Elm Street Nicole Kidman - The Invasion Alex Pettyfer - Beastly

Elizabeth Warren's performance in Massachusetts yesterday was to the level of "so bad it's funny."

For one from a mainstream movie Keanu Reeves completely embarrasses himself in Much Ado About Nothing. He's bad in Dracula too but this is just next level shit, maybe amplified because he butchering Shakespeare's great dialogue and has so many good actors around him.
