I think it has the following chances...
An outside shot in Editing, but I reckon Vice will take it.
A decent chance of winning in Best Original Screenplay, but I still make it a minor outsider to Green Book.
I think it will win...
Best Production Design
Best Costume Design
Edit: I also think it will win Screenplay now, so I'm calling those 3 wins for it.

Screenplay seems very secure. It could win both production and costume design but I could see Black Panther getting one of those just so the Academy can honor it. Colman and Weisz are still both spoilers and BP still seems like a huge longshot. I still think if Roma doesn't win the next in line is BlacKkKlansman presuming it wins screenplay. It would be a massive upset but all the pieces are there and the Academy clearly liked it.
so right now I'm just calling it for screenplay, costumes, and production design. But the academy has done weird shit with these tech categories before so I don't know.

It can win as much as 6 and as little as none.
I have it winning Original Screenplay and nothing else.

Sadly, its best (and only) chance is in Original Screenplay. Even here there's Green Book, which is a huge threat, but I think The Favourite will end up winning.

Even if the film has lots of fans among the Academy, Weisz and Stone being in the same category will probably result in vote splitting, which will benefit the other better positioned candidate, which is Regina King. I would be very surprised if one of the Favourite girls wins here. Costumes and Production Design should go to Black Panther, but yeah, The Favourite is, without a doubt, the only nominee that can put up a fight. |
