Your reaction to the "arm" reveal in the beginning is one of the best things I've ever seen.

Control is so. Fucking. Good. There's a moment in the game's penultimate mission that is easily one of the most epic things I've experienced in a video game.

Jet Moto 2
Whoa boy, this is bringing back old memories. I played this when I was a little kid, and now I'm thinking about things that I haven't spared a thought towards in over two decades.
This game is still pretty wicked, though. Racing games aren't normally my cup of tea, but this is a lot of fun.

I gave up on JM2 pretty quickly. Now I'm playing Tokyo Jungle, which seems pretty awesome. Not just because the opening character is an omnicidal pomeranian whose bloodlust is only limited by your ability to avoid being murdered by beagles, but because the mechanics of the game appear to be very solid and fun.

welp, back to Fallout 4. This has to be the 4th or 5th time since 2018 I said I was done with this game only to get gradually intensifying cravings and then be playing it again in 5-6 months. I. can't. stay. away. Something is drawing me here like those raiders to Dunwich Borers Still in the re-honeymoon period where I haven't gotten sick of it yet but I know it's a matter of time. Exploring and scrapping and settlement building is just such an initially enjoyable loop and if you beef up the difficulty with mods you can't just waltz through the wasteland squashing deathclaws and mirelurks like bugs. I LOVE settlement building w/ the right mods. I love it. It's better than the Sims. Oh yeah, and Darker Nights mod. It makes traveling at night terrifying (ran into a deatchlaw last night with a flashlight mod in near-pitch black and nearly shit myself) and it makes decorating your settlements with light sources so much more fun. You can really create cool, atmospheric and immersive spots. Honestly when I get a good PC and have a ton more freedom to play with mods, I'll probably be playing this off/on for yeeeears.

I always try to shake things up but always end up with either Cait or Ada. Love Curie too. Yours? And what are your favorite dungeons? there are some really cool ones.

Final Fantasy XIII
I'm fairly early right now (I'm trying not to break my controller while screaming at Odin), but this game is SOOOOO much better than its reputation. I grew up on the FF series. Some were good (FF7), some bad (FF8), some spectacular (FF6). But 12 really soured me on Final Fantasy, and left me thinking that the change in management resulted in lower quality. The tepid response to FF13 helped form this opinion.
Imagine my surprise at how exciting this is. It has issues, certainly - it is still handholding with tutorials after EIGHT HOURS OF GAMEPLAY and the narrative is a mess that can't decide whether it wants exposition to be made of endless lore entries or exposition dumps in the middle of cutscenes - but the gameplay walks a good line between split-second decision making and long-term technical strategy (for a Final Fantasy game, anyway). The characters don't like each other and the entire story has basically been every party member getting at each other's throats and arguing about the next path to take, and that is such a refreshing change from the standard RPG trend of "we're all buddies who occasionally side-eye each other." I don't think I've seen a party of adventurers that are so openly hostile to each other in any video game, and I'm digging it. The personalities are larger-than-life anime kind of stuff, but that just makes their mutual loathing and tight-lipped secrecy more entertaining. It's teeth-clenched teamwork at its finest.
After hearing so many bad things on this, I'm finding myself smiling and cheering (especially whenever Snow or Hope get their asses kicked) far more often than I could have possibly expected. I'm so down for this.

I'm so down for this. What do you think of FFIX? I frequently hear it's the best one. I bought that from Steam a few months ago. It's quite good but loses its way as it goes. It has a fun, easy-going adventure type story, but the world feels small and underdeveloped. Some characters are a lot of fun - like Zidane, Steiner, Dagger and Vivi - and others are terribly written, shallow and at best missed opportunities - Freya, Quina, Eiko, Kuja and Amarant. How many FF games have you played? I'd rank them like this at the moment: FF6 - This starts off as a flimsy Star Wars ripoff before turning into an ensemble piece about "heroes" feeling helpless and alone. The large number of characters keeps things fun and the gameplay is pretty fast-paced. With sixteen(!) PCs, some have better development than others, but the ones that are great are REALLY great. On a side note, Infinity War/Endgame totally ripped this off. But there are worse things to rip off. Nebula/Celes, I love you babe. FF13 - I'm still early in the game, but this has a fun battle system and the five PCs are a great picture of trauma and grief - from Snow trying to find a cosmic "purpose" after his life has been ruined, to Lightning and Hope redirecting their grief into hatred as they vow to kill literally every sumbitch responsible for murdering the people they loved (and everyone that tries to stop them), it's the most engaging cast I've ever seen in the series. FF10 - Yuna is my hero. The gameplay kind of sucks and the worldbuilding is half-assed, but Yuna is a Great character and the greatest video game protagonist ever. What, you say that Tidus is the main character...? No. No he isn't. Stop trying to make the game about him! FF7 - I learned to read by playing this, so I have a soft spot in my heart. A brain dead monkey could beat it, but the high-octane melodrama sets my heart aflutter. FF5 - The job system is LOADS of fun, but the story is the most basic "defeat the evil bad guy" kind of stuff. FF9 - It's a fun adventure story, but the characters are hit and miss, and the gameplay was getting stale by this point. FF8 - Boring characters in a ridiculously melodramatic and silly story. FF12 - The characters were, without fail, dull as dishwater, and the battle system was like KOTOR but, uh, COMPLETE CRAP. The narrative seemed kind of cool with its political plots and machinations that were completely divorced from our main party, but I quit midway because I hated the battles and I hated the main characters.

That said, they're for a very specific type of person who enjoys very melodramatic stories and doesn't care how silly they get. They do each have specific quirks and styles to them: - FF6 is literally Infinity War/Endgame. Like, the MCU ripped it off wholesale. But there are far worse things to ripoff. Mind you, FF6 was ripping off Star Wars until it wasn't, so it isn't like it cornered the market on originality. - FF7 is a sci-fi set in a polluted world run by corrupt corporations destroying the environment, and your party is literally a bunch of terrorists bombing nuclear reactors. - FF8 is a disaster that I have mercifully forgotten. - FF9 is a swashbuckling, silly adventure story with wacky humor and a light tone, for the most part. - FF10 is set in a kinda post-apocalyptic setting run by a church-state that begrudgingly tolerates heathens, setting up some interesting religious differences between party members. - FF12 is a sort of political thriller with plots and machinations between various scheming factions. - FF13 is about five fugitives who are branded as enemies of the people after they escape a mass deportation murder of the city they live in.

Bioshock Infinite has the worst narrative of any game I've ever played. My god, what a load of try hard nonsense. The DLC is garbage too. What a complete insult to the fantastic first two games.

Tried playing the original fallout, watched a bunch of tutorials and shit and managed to kill the cave rats right outside the vault. Left that area, map popped up and I clicked on where I thought I was supposed to go…..get dropped off between 2 hungry radscorpions. I somehow managed to escape and made my way back to the vault where I proceeded to chase everyone around with a machete like a total psychopath and murdered them all
I am now playing fallout 3 and idk how my karma is gonna look by the end of this bc I started the game losing a chunk of karma by shooting my childhood bully in the face after he asked me to save his mom from the radroaches then gained a ton of karma when I made it to megaton, talked to Burke and immediately shot him in the face right in the middle of the saloon when he asked me to blow up the town
