Shadow of The Colossus: Remake
Gorgeous looking game, it was way ahead of its time. I still think is a timeless masterpiece (some game mechanics can be frustrating at times, but still...). The remake is a beautiful reminder of its important legacy. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Can't stop playing this. Entertaining as fuck. SotC remake? Is that a remake or a remaster? I've played the original game, and I was always... I wanted to like it much more than I did. The puzzles are inventive, the atmosphere is really cool... but there is only so much "walking through empty, pretty areas" that I can take. It seemed like a solid 35% of the game was walking from place to place, which is fine if I enjoy the walking. I just found all of the empty desolation to get repetitive. But then, I'm a Dark Souls fan which does much the same thing. The difference (I feel) is that Dark Souls does a better job of suggesting what each area was like before falling to ruin. I still have SotC, I may give it another go. I really, REALLY liked Ico.

Absolutely understand your point about this game. It's a very particular experience for sure, an exercise of loneliness. The audio-visual aesthetic of being in a wide open space, with minimal to no music, and extensive use of negative space was entirely unique when the game came out, and that can throw many people off. But I think the way this is combined with those epic-scale fights against the massive beasts is what makes this a transcendent experience. And i absolutely agree with you...The Souls game have a lot in common with SoTC...Strangers in a strange land. SoulsBorne games have some of the best world building, level designs ever...except Blighttown, seriously fuck you Blighttown!!!! FROMSOFTWARE is so good...Expectations for Elden Ring?

I like Blighttown, actually. The frame rate is a problem, but the atmosphere of despair is very effective. I didn't like Patriot that much, but there's a scene in it where the protagonist speaks about climbing an electrified fence. He says that you only need to get halfway and one step, because after that it is less painful to move forward then to go back. That's kinda the way I see Blighttown: You pressure through because getting out again is madness, and then you finally, FINALLY see Firelink again. That was such a wonderful moment of relief, being able to just lay my burdens down. I could have cried. I can't say that I'm excited for Elden Ring, because I'm still stuck on a PS3. I didn't like DS2 (although I only played a couple of hours before I was crushed by disappointment) and found Demon's Souls to be a solid game, but a clear dry run for what Dark Souls would perfect. There's been precious little about the game so although I am interested, my expectations are cautious. Open world games have never worked for me, but Dark Souls is kinda open - the way the world is put together is the best part of it. I did like Vaati's art competitions for Elden bosses, though. It got me to imagining one of my own (I have no artistic training or talent, but I could sure write up a storm for it). So even for me on the fringes, the fanbase has something getting me going. For me, the PS4 games I'm psyched for are: Death Stranding FF7 Remake The Last of Us 2 Soulsborne/Sekiro

Though in the PS4 remaster they corrected the frame rate issue, it's almost unbelievable 😂😂 Yeah, open world games can be exhausting, but it's impossible to avoid getting hyped by the game. You should definitely get a PS4 to try Dark Souls 3, Sekiro and especially Bloodborne (in my opinion FROMSOFTWARE'a best game so far). I would add Ghost of Tsushima to your list too

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is the *perfect* game for someone battling his own mental health issues.
Seriously though, this game is really good, but it isn’t just scary, it’s depressing as hell.

I started Heavy Rain, but two minutes in I have to brush my teeth and apparently my motion control isn't working. Absolutely no response when the game wants me to shake my controller.
Sheesh.

Counterpoint: That game is ... rough ... it’s a rough experience. But also really fun once it stops being really fucking annoying and frustrating ... it just takes a lot of mundane tutorials to get there. Stick with it ... it’s a favorite of mine, but maybe I’m just nostalgic about it, I don’t know.

If you can rectify this issue, stick with the game. It is bizarre and infuriating and unnecessarily unwieldy, but goddamn if it wasn't an unforgettable experience.

I need to get a new controller anyway. I was having trouble with Demon's Souls because my controller was pressing buttons that I wasn't pressing. So I looked up a video on how to fix it, took my controller apart... and broke it. So I'm using the spare that won't hold a charge for more than a couple of minutes, meaning I have to keep it plugged in.

With this abundance of time, I'm finally trying to get back into The Witcher III. These massive open-world RPGs are always difficult for me to get into (which is kinda weird considering I'm an avid D&D player), so I've a feeling this could be a months-long endeavor and I'll surely be playing a lot of shorter stuff to break it up. Still excited for it and also Gwent rules.

I'm currently playing Pillars Of Eternity for a second time. Great game and I love the combat and how difficult the encounters are. Even the trash mobs in this game try to give you as hard a time as possible. The fact that the game rewards you more for avoiding combat than engaging in it is also a nice touch.

I got a new controller (which is advertised as having Sixaxis) and again, absolutely no response. I'm returning it, but I'm done with Heavy Rain. I really liked the Sixaxis controls in Journey, so I'm open to a game utilizing them... but I have a knockoff and an aftermarket controller, and neither one is working with it and this pisses me off.

Dark Souls 3....probably not the best game to playing in such a time. I know this series has a reputation of being difficult since I’ve played earlier iterations of it, but there’s being hard to beat and then there’s blatant ridiculous cheating which you can do absolutely fuck all about except bend over and take it. I’ve somehow managed to not break my controller or my monitor yet....probably because it would take 3 months to get new ones.
