Don't mind the three month delay. But please don't put Tenet in June 2021. Actually, don't put Tenet in 2021...

Okay so here's my ideal version of this current Batman trilogy (if it does indeed become a trilogy). THE BATMAN (2021): set during YEAR TWO of Batman's career. Very grounded. Highly influenced by SE7EN and both BLADE RUNNER films. POV-driven neo-noir detective yarn wherein Batman investigates a series of murders and is psychologically and emotionally tested (trial by fire, etc), introducing various members of his Rogues Gallery (Catwoman, Riddler, Firefly, Mayor Penguin) and ending with a third act reveal of true culprit Two-Face, portrayed in a surprise appearance by Matthew McConaughey. By the end of the film Batman has ascended to his true state as Gotham's protector.
THE BATMAN: YEAR FIVE (2024): Yes, instead of continuing where we left off Gotham ages in-between films. Batman and Gotham are now in its absolute prime. Gordon is Commissioner, Robin and Batgirl exist, the city has become more visually art deco and stylized, the tech has all been upgraded to what is comparable in a fairly low-stakes Marvel film but not as cheaply realized, and many of the more over-the-top members of the Rogues appear in supporting roles and cameos (mainly Poison Ivy and Man-Bat). Instead of Batman facing off with a traditional villain, this sequel continues in the vein of its predecessor by giving the Dark Knight detective yet another mystery to solve: that of the Court of Owls, a secret society comprised of Gotham elites who thrive off of the structural inequality inherent in the system. And while the previous film mainly dwelt in the slums and grime of lower Gotham, this story takes us through the upper echelon of the Gotham elites and the corruption and political machinations above, the Rogues gallery players ultimately mere puppets for the true villains of the picture. Highly, highly influenced by EYES WIDE SHUT. Also, we'd get many vertigo-inducing aerial action setpieces of Batman vs Talon (and Man-Bat!).
THE BATMAN: YEAR NINE (2027): I'm jumping a bit further ahead because by the big finale we've arrived in a world where pretty much the entirety of the DC universe exists in this canon. However, the third and final film begins with an INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE style opening sequence set in YEAR ONE and depicting Batman's first encounter with his ultimate nemesis, the Joker! We then flash-forward to YEAR NINE, and the first third of the film depicts Batman and the Justice League dealing with a global threat of some kind. Then, about thirty minutes into the film (remember, that Last Crusade-style opening takes up about 10 mins), all of the Justice League members besides Batman become incapacitated with Joker venom and what follows is a loose adaptation of the New 52 Endgame storyline where all of Gotham is infected with the laughing venom. We could also include some Death of the Family elements where the Bat family is psychologically turned against each other to counterbalance the physical incapacitating of the JLA earlier in the film. Batman must then team up with the Rogues against the Joker in an epic and wildly comic-booky fight for the survival of Gotham. This way, within three films, we could get many of the differing stages of Batman's career onscreen.
Thoughts? Btw I thought I already posted this on the board, but scrolled through this thread and I guess I didn't. If it's in another thread I apologize.

Good. I was worried WB would be hellbent on a summer release date, leaving less time for post production and resulting in a messily rushed film a la that Star Wars trainwreck from last year. Yeah, I think this has less to do with the corona release date musical chairs than with them just needing time to edit the movie. Thoughts? Btw I thought I already posted this on the board, but scrolled through this thread and I guess I didn't. If it's in another thread I apologize. Having Joker not show up until the third film and doing a prologue showing their first encounter was a cool idea. An idea I had was to do a Batman trilogy where the Joker is locked up at Arkham for the first two films and you have Silence of the Lambs type scenes with Batman visiting him. Then in the third film he escapes and is the main antagonist. I know that's how it is in the comics, but for me having Batman with the other DC characters just doesn't work. I can't imagine OTT characters like Superman and Wonder Woman existing in his world. It doesn't have to be "realistic" like the Nolan movies, I'm fine with a stylized visual style like in the Burton movies, but aliens and mythological figures just seems like too much for Batman. I've heard it said that this movie is not going to be connected to the DC universe. I also like him as being more focused on just fighting crime and not on world saving stuff. The highest stakes I'd want to see in a Batman movie are Joker trying to blow up some buildings and kill a few thousand people. The low-key detective story type feel you get at times with Batman is the reason he's the only superhero I really like that much.

I love this Batman with eye shadow and eyeliner. Serving some real Bowie/glam rock realness.

I've said this before, but from a purely visual standpoint, I honestly haven't really liked anything I've seen so far. Earlier in this thread, I mentioned how I didn't really like the suit, the Batmobile, or the Batcycle, and now the emo Bruce Wayne who looks like he listens to My Chemical Romance. I know we haven't even seen a trailer yet, but aesthetically this just seems to be completely out of sync with where my tastes are in terms of how this world should look. I don't know, this film kind of seems like it's going to be marketed towards a particular demographic that's not me lol. There are still things about the film that intrigue me like Dano as The Riddler, but at this point I'm just having a hard time getting excited for it.

The leak I saw already got taken down. Robert is playing the creepy factor way up and I’m loving that.

Thought that was Gérard Depardieu @ 1:17.
Outside of that... it looks alright. Emo Bruce Wayne and Batman punching that guy 40 times were both a little weird though.

As much as I appreciate the noirish approach they're taking with this, I'm not really feeling the mall goth aesthetic. Hate to say it, but Pattinson seems miscast.

Well at least we got to hear Serkis... and I don't think I even saw/heard Colin Farrell (unless that's his voice at the end, but I doubt that highly).
