Nice (long) interview with JDW in The Guardian... talks about being in lockdown with his parents, having barbecues and playing board games, his relationship with Denzel and being a kid growing up with him, BLM protests, among other things...

So when are we expecting the next announcement that this is getting bumped again?

So when are we expecting the next announcement that this is getting bumped again? Indiewire confirmed it's unlikely to release in August. They should move to Christmas or next summer at this point. It will never make as much money in the fall.

And that's the official end of Nolan's plans for a summer release.

And that's the official end of Nolan's plans for a summer release. The writing has been on the wall for weeks now. LA is out of control.

Are theaters open where you live? If so, what are they playing and how's it going with that? My province enters phase 3 this Friday and theaters are opening end of July (my two favorite independent places are hoping to open with Saint Maude and Do the Right Thing). I don't foresee myself going anytime soon though.

I don't foresee myself going anytime soon though. They are, yes. They're playing quite a mix of films; some smaller stuff that was supposed to release around this time, films from a few months ago like Sonic and The Invisible Man and older/classic films too. They've been open for about a week now and I think you have to leave 2 seats between you and the next person. An example of the type of films, today my local cinema is showing: - The Personal History of David Copperfield - Sonic the Hedgehog - Love Sarah - Red Shoes and the Seven Dwarves - Jumanji: The Next Level - The Invisible Man - Samsam - The Current War - Bloodshot - Dolittle - The Devil Wears Prada - The Jungle Book - Star Wars: The Force Awakens - Frozen - Predator - 1917 - Pulp Fiction - The Rocky Horror Picture Show - War - Love Punjab

Take it with a huge grain of salt since it’s just a rumor I read online but speculation is the movie exhibition industry and studios are discussing to possibly shelf everything until November. Also that we could possibly see some larger blockbusters released theatrically internationally and VOD in the US.
I think the first part makes a lot of sense. November is way more realistic to have things settle down and have time to prepare.

While I hate that we’re going to have to wait that long, I agree that it seems more realistic than pushing something back a couple of weeks at a time, and expecting things to be better in that short of a time. Hopefully by November, we’ll finally have things really under control here in America, and theaters can be reopened with real safety measures and deep cleaning between screenings.

I was saying this was gonna happen... Expect all the awards circuit fall festivals to be postponed/canceled next, and no productions to resume for the rest of the year. It took WEEKS of lockdown to bring our average down from the mid 30s to the low 20s, how long is it going to take to bring down our average from the mid 60s with less stringent measures and lots of stupid angry impatient Americans who don't wanna wear masks because it infringes on their freedom? It's uncontainable. The rest of the year is fucked.
