They're giving this terrible marketing. It's a perfect opportunity to promote it as the first post Corona movie yet.
I wouldn't be surprised if it opened lower than Dunkirk / inception

I wouldn't be surprised if it opened lower than Dunkirk / inception even if this had the best marketing in the world it’s 99.999999% that this will open lower than those given the uhhh current global pandemic Safe to say I’m sure as hell not going

If half the states and countries don’t have movie theaters open in July they’re not going to release it then. Might as wait until June when the picture becomes a little more clear.

Yeah....what Pittsnogle_Goggins said. Everything is still up in the air, regardless of them sticking with the original release date. What would be the point on splashing $millions on promo for a movie that may yet be forced to push back? Even the latest TOTAL FILM magazine that came out this week simply rehashed old images and information when normally, new stuff would emerge including a new trailer in the coming week. I would be surprised (in a great way of course) to see them drop a trailer next week......or maybe they can just release the prologue in pristine 4K? We certainly wouldn't mind that WB!

I’m not going through a fucking TSA checkpoint to get into a movie theater post-lockdown. This is the only movie I’m making an exception for

Prayer circle for a new trailer sometime this week (TOMORROW). Shit.....if they’re hellbent on releasing this bad boy on July 17th, you might as well put up or shut up, right?

I don’t see any scenario it doesn’t get pushed. Yeah, me too. Unfortunately... They have no reason at all to release it July.

It's a gamble,but I think they'll keep the release date.

It's a gamble, but I think they'll keep the release date. It will be a major bomb then. I doubt theaters will even be open in my state. Even if they are I’d wager at least 1/3 if not more of audience that would normally go still won’t be willing to risk it. Plus there will likely be capacity restrictions to maintain social distancing.

Something to keep in mind though is the greater number of auditoriums that the film will likely be playing in to offset the social distancing restrictions, plus I imagine the film's run in theaters will last longer than it would under normal circumstances. So even if the film's opening box office isn't huge, it could still have legs (as Nolan's films typically do).

Another thing to keep in mind, the U.S. isn't the only country in the world. Even if America is still in relative shambles come July the vast majority of the world is on the come up and some countries are even considering opening cinemas this month, let alone July. It might not do well domestic but it will kill it overseas, especially considering it will be one of, if not the only movie playing for some time.

Comments like this subtly but bluntly put into perspective just how much the U.S. has dropped the ball with this.

Yeah, Asia and some parts of Europe (obviously huge international markets) are slowly reopening their cinemas and other businesses bit by bit. It’s another reason that the other huge tentpole - “Mulan” - has also decided to stick with a July release. Quite a few of these places will have or be close to having the virus under a substantial amount of control by July....maybe sooner. Can’t say the same about the US at the moment but overseas, they’ll be chomping at the bit to get things at the cinemas rolling again.....with strict and necessary guidelines of course.

Australia is saying mid-July, right on time for Tenet.

Also, this is pretty cool (and a little bit more insight as to what the plot entails) The Secrets of Tenet: Inside Christopher Nolan's Quantum Cold Warwww.amazon.com/Secrets-Tenet-Inside-Christopher-Quantum/dp/1647220602Quantum Cold War.....holy shit.

I’d say there’s less than a 5% chance this doesn’t get pushed to late August or Sept.
