Kate Mulvany was another standout.I actually had no idea she was an Aussie, she really nailed her English accent.

So yeah, this was all over the board, but I still liked it overall. Had some genuinely really effective moments (and emotional ones) but also a lot of wtf moments. Performances were pretty good and it kept me mostly engaged throughout.

Ok, just finished it-- not a huge fan of the way it went in the last episode, but overall I think I stand with my evaluation

Ok, just finished it-- not a huge fan of the way it went in the last episode, but overall I think I stand with my evaluation The one development that came up in season 10 that made me like it - as much as I did like it anyway - the identity of the Wolf, I quite liked that reveal because Jonah kills him without thought of the context - ie he was never "a Nazi" and for a year or so at least has committed to atoning for his "one" sin of torturing/killing the real Meyer. He dies for Meyer but it is not a fair trade at all given what he's done good.........Jonah kills personally but not for the cause exactly and against the wishes of his grandmother's "ghost" even etc. Again total comic book origin story stuff and I think actually sets up a second season (if they have one) quite well as long as they don't go into the literal aspects of what came later and assuming the very end was played as a sort of sick joke.

Just saw the pilot...
This thing is all over the place!! It has a very comic-book look and reminded me a lot of some Tarantino movies. A bit messy but I liked it.
Of course I didn't expect it to have any historical accuracy. The performances were solid, especially Lerman, and the camera work very good!
Very curious to see where it's going with the Lena Olin character and how it ends (I know there is a twist in the final episode).

I just finished this. Honestly, the last two episodes don't make any sense.

Just finished it. I admit I didn't dig the final episode. Of course I already knew there was going to be a twist in the end so it wasn't very difficult to predict it.
The series was ok, not bad at all. Maybe a 7/10.

I would like to give a try just to see his performance but wanna know first if hes trying to trully act or just taking it as boring job? Somewhere in-between but mostly acting.............I thought he was good and especially did a good job fitting into it and not overwhelming the piece - he could have blown people off the screen left and right and instead is very generous with all of them.........now imo it's not one of his top 30-35 performances and he has more great performances than any American actor ever on film/TV - which I don't think is actually arguable at this point - we ALL agree on that He does his best acting in the last episode - episode 10 which is kind of weird..........some people will say this is like watching a weightlifter just lifting toothpicks......some people who find him sometimes "too much" will be impressed by his restraint and warmth here .......... but his "turning it on" only when necessary........

deadline.com/2020/06/hunters-jerrika-hinton-david-weil-nikki-toscano-interview-contenders-1202963284/They're doing a bit of campaigning even on behalf of Pacino. What are the likeliest Emmy noms this might get? Saul Rubinek in Supporting? Pacino is a long shot but 4/10 Gold Derby "editors" are predicting him at the moment; hmmmmm. Don't they submit single episodes or am I thinking of something else - bc E10 has at least one terrific Pacino scene that could grab 'em. Of course , this show not being evenly loved, it could get no noms at all...

Of course , this show not being evenly loved, it could get no noms at all... I'm thinking it misses all of them but maybe Rubinek or even Kane who had a great emotional episode and they do I think submit episodes which is probably why even keeled turns miss out often (Peter Mullan wtf) .........I think this show is mostly like Ozark s1 where it can refine/tweak what it did and become far bigger in s2 IF there is an s2 at all that is. As a Pacino fanatic I really like the love that he is getting from cast/creator and I try to look at it as a (barely) positive on RT show with a decent IMDB score that a whole lot of people saw and will still see too - it keeps his late career hot streak going - but on some level I'm pretty sure the Emmy's are now all about prestige TV in 2020 and this show ...........as much as I guilty-pleasured much of it.......is too popcorn to factor into it. Side note: The Cate Blanchett vs. Regina King battle is going to be ........awards watchers catnip for us and we should discuss that like its the BA Oscar race

As much as I griped about this show at its lowest/stupidest, it did work as a comic book origin story at its best/most batsh it and it could get a lot better too.....you established the lead/story now........and on top of that it doesn't really need Pacino to get better as a show either.
Though if he wants to do it, fine, do it after King Lear buddy.......

Big news - Pacino is back. He's been seen filming scenes in Los Angeles for Season 2......which started shooting this month. Also, not mentioned in the trades yet but the fascinating Udo Kier is listed on IMDb for the new season.
Honestly, idk how I feel bout Pacino spending his summer on this.... it might be a much smaller part compared to S1, no spoilers, but then again maybe not??

I don't know what to think about this.
I mean, the show was fun (kinda...) and big Al got a GG nomination and all... But it's not a quality project by no means. He's 81 yo and keeps spending his time working in mediocre stuff.

Also, not mentioned in the trades yet but the fascinating Udo Kier is listed on IMDb for the new season. ............like I said this is his version of Marvel .........it's a comic book show and they did the origin story .......so personally I know I wouldn't be watching season 2 without him This show would be wise to have Pacino interact with Leigh and Kier as much as possible - just in flashback, he knew them before - easy .............. side note - there's some Udo Kier (and Peter Lorre) in Pacino's acting in a way although nobody says that .......it's a great missed opportunity that Pacino never did much horror ( Cruising, Devils Advocate) because he has the expressive face and the eyes (and often the line readings) for it........put him in an update of The Beast with Five Fingers when he was younger - in the Lorre role - and tell me that wouldn't be totally f'n awesome ...........geesh

Some S2 crew info -
Phil Abraham is IMDb listed as directing 3 eps of S2. He's an Emmy winner who was the main cinematographer for The Sopranos and he directed the most eps of Mad Men.
Haley Boston on IMDb too, is a S2 "executive story editor" - she was a staff writer on Brand New Cherry Flavor. Recent interview she mentioned having to write dialogue for Pacino, so just another confirmation he's actually back.
