Generally I'm all for people making an out there choice of an outfit, especially the men, who tend to be such dullards when it comes to their clothing choices; but this doesn't work for me. Sorry Timmy!

I love black, but the suspender bra isn't a good look on him.

This looks stupid. Like something someone would wear in a bad space opera. Generally I'm all for people making an out there choice of an outfit, especially the men, who tend to be such dullards when it comes to their clothing choices; but this doesn't work for me. Sorry Timmy! The classic black dinner jacket/bow tie and white tuxedo shirt ensemble looks great on almost everyone. Why mess with it? Mixing in other colors or doing things like this is just gimmicky most the time. There's just a lot more room for experimentation if you're wearing a dress.

Looks like something one wears under an alter-boy cloak

I'm not saying you should necessarily go too crazy, but at least someone like David Oyelowo takes this tradition of the suit / tux, and does something interesting with it. A splash of colourful adventure doesn't hurt fellas.
Also, the bow tie, or icky bow as I like to call it, is something I have nothing but the highest level of distaste for, for me it is one of the lowest ebbs in male fashion, so it doesn't help with me on a personal level, that the majority of men on the red carpet wear them.
I definitely admire the choice Mr. Chalamet at the globes, even if I don't like it. It is probably a pretty fashion forward look.
