My most recent acquisition: 700 Nimes Road, a photographic essay of Liz Taylor's home in Bel-Air, inspired by William Eggleston's photographs of Graceland in the 70s. MsMovieStar LaraQ pacinoyes Her cat, Fang, with her Chanel shoes!

Blank Generation Revisited - The Early Days of Punk Rock Some amazing photos by the amazing Roberta Bayley (and other photographers too) - Bayley took the iconic photo of The Ramones first album cover, The Heartbreakers album too - lots of cool ones (especially of Debbie Harry).......there's a few photos of her too here - which were not in any other editions of this that I've seen (?) - and I haven't seen her ever photographed much back then.......... (that's her on the bottom, probably not knowing she's being photographed ).

(That's who I thought she was actually)

Oh honey, Debbie Harry & Patti Smith, so totally opposites but both so legendary. It's hard to believe they both existed within the same timeframe.
Any photographs of Lizzy Mercier Descloux?

I love Lizzy .........there's a photo with her and Patti Smith here but a different photographer .........Roberta Bayley would have been great to photograph Lizzy - she photographs females in a way that's like Lizzy too - sexy, smart, playful - she really demystifies females in a good way in her photos I think .........I have a picture of Lizzy in another book taken by Richard Hell that is one of the sexiest shots - Lizzy with long hair (!) - even if the picture is a bit muddy.........RIP

Oh thanks honey. I always loved the fact that she couldn't really sing, but got by on a series of whoops, yelps or words and phrases said in her thick French accent emitted with a lot of enthusiasm. I think she's one of the most unique and interesting artists from that period. I love her Hard Boiled Babe with its literary references.

Jessica Lange's book of photography... Have any of you seen this? She initially studied photography at the University of Minnesota before moving in front of the camera as a high-fashion model in Paris.

I found it in a beautiful bookshop in Ginza, Tokyo... The camera loved him and he loved to use the camera. He's one of the most interesting actors to see pictures of...... I posted this song video yesterday (Comet Gain - Fists in the Pocket) - where a photo of Cassavetes keeps popping up throughout it that I really like a lot .......I mean I always have thought this was a great song but it's even better with this sort of amateurish cool video .......... movie-awards-redux.freeforums.net/post/458570

I'm so obsessed with Tina Chow. What an icon. It's out of print, so I had to pay a king's ransom for it, but... what can I say? I had to have it!!! LaraQ MsMovieStar - Are you guys fans of hers, as well?

LaraQ MsMovieStar - Are you guys fans of hers, as well? Oh honey, I remember reading about her and her life turned out so tragic. I think she dealt with her illness so elegantly (whereas I would have screamed and screamed and then bought an AK47)... I love her jewellery designs.

When I first delved into Hitchcock, I use the below book by Bill Krohn as a guide and reference. It served me well with a comprehensive overview of his filmography, an array of high resolution movie stills and artwork, and informative but not overly scholarly text. I have fond memories of it as a companion to discovering Hitch. I like the concept of the below book rather than the actual book, but it does have some great images. I think it would have benefit from some more reflection on these iconic actresses and the ideas of beauty, glamour and stardom in the modern world, and a more thoughtful presentation of the images which are a bit haphazardly presented. Still it’s such a great idea for a coffee table book.

Newest acquisition! From New York's Museum of the Moving Image, who honored Haynes with its lifetime achivement award earlier this year. The book, Todd Haynes: Rapturous Process, published by the Museum, is an adaptation of Centre Pompidou's book published on the occasion of its own Haynes retrospective earlier in 2023, but with new material for English-language readers. It includes an in-depth 2023 career interview with Haynes by the Pompidou's Judith Revault d'Allonnes, a new essay by Michael Koresky, a conversation about May December between Haynes and filmmaker Kelly Reichardt, and a foreword by Julianne Moore. The book features more than 200 pages of materials from Haynes's archives, including drawings, paintings, storyboards, notes, on-set photographs, costume and set designs, and more—much of which is drawn from Haynes’s production archive, which is part of the Museum’s permanent collection. Copies will be available for purchase in the MoMI Shop onsite and online starting in late November.
