Do you agree that Clooney had a great amazing era during the time of 2005-2011?
Good Night, and Good Luck Syriana Michael Clayton Up In The Air The American The Descendants
Between those: an Oscar win and multiple nominations in multiple categories. I still think he is bettter in everything BUT Syriana for his Oscar win.

Don't forget his second Oscar win in 2012 for producing Argo.

Don't forget his second Oscar win in 2012 for producing Argo. And his role in Gravity the year after that.

I'm wondering if there will ever be another actor like him - in the sense of going from a television star to becoming a full-fledged, Old-Hollywood style movie star.

Hopefully one of his upcoming film projects gets him back to that quality.

But he made awful moviez too, monument men, that new matt damon's movie, and Confession of a dangerous mind so he's not that great like Mister tyler said. Like I said, he was only good between 2005 and 2011

I really hope that era comes back because it would be a waste if not. He is a very sympathic screen presence and is a talented, charming actor in the tradition of the Golden Age of Hollywood.
His best performance is probably Up in the Air in that era... and Oh Brother Where Art Thou? if you look at his entire career.

That was really an amazing streak. Especially because I didn't think much of him as an actor before, he had not a single performances that impressed me before the series you mentioned. And suddenly he gives such a finely nuanced turn in Michael Clayton I would never have guessed he would be able to (he's my best actor winner that year). And then comes up with Up in the Air, The American and The Descendants as well. Really one of the best six-year-spans of any actor recently.

I don't really care for him as an actor or a screen presence, but I will give him credit for being occasionally impressive on screen and he has done some top writing and directing for sure. Honestly though, I wouldn't miss him if I never saw him in another film.

First of all, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind rules. Second, I really, really admire Clooney. He's not the best actor around, but he's one of the most watchable ones. He aligns in his work leading-man charisma and good taste for both blockbusters and Oscar projects. We need more guys like him and Pitt doing stuff.

I don't nom him for any of these films so I wouldn't call it amazing but it's a good streak of solid works in good movies. Movies wise I'm tempted to pick the more cool Clooney era 1996-2002 (Out of Sight, O Brother, Ocean's Eleven, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, From Dust...) over it tho.

Clooney is representative of why movie stars are important and have a good impact on movies. People like him can get quality mid budget dramas made that would normally be indies and get a wide audience to see them. When people like him and Leo are gone it's going to be tough to make those kinds of movies because now movie stardom is built around playing action franchise characters and not tentpole stars who can open any movie. The franchise really is the star.

George Clooney was the nephew of Academy Award Winner actor José Ferrer and singer and occacional actress Rosemary Clooney. Clooney stardom was bright but short. Rosemary Clooney made White Christmas with Bing Crosby and also made songs with Frank Sinatra. Crosby and Sinatra were not only crooners, were part of the rat Pack (Crosby who was older and not as beloved by his pears was an occacionally member).- Clooney learn the lesson very clearly. So when he finally become a Hollywood star, he create his own ratpack. His Oscar nominations are product of these. When his career has a downhill, someone of his team (Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Brad Pitt etc) rescue him, and vicebersa
