I mean, don't get me wrong, a Mel Gibson-directed Western is everything I could ever want . . . but I don't want a remake of this.

The fact that he's still allowed to work, but the likes of Woody Allen and Al Franken aren't, is just disgusting. The Holocaust happened, Mel.

i kinda liked when we all hated mel and wish we could go back 2 that sometime I kinda prefer when people use their functioning brain and have enough basic common sense to separate art from artist's personal life and wish we could leave irrational & regressive sjw mentalities like yours in the past where they belong. LET IT GO, Mel haters!! HACKSAW RIDGE and the Oscar nom proved he's out of movie jail and he's not going back while he's on good behavior. Granted, the dude is so whacked out & self-destructive he very well could ruin this new chance, but I hope he doesn't. And if he does the vultures will have plenty of chances to pounce, but until that's happened: STFU!

Mel news this last week is crazy, I'm losing track of all his new projects. Fassbender needs to do somethin' for chrissake, even though he just did a Western and so did Foxx... Dinklage is an interesting addition...
Looking forward to the other upcoming Westerns from Schrader and Park Chan-wook....

Foxx?
I was picturing someone more like Birchir...

Michael Fassbender as William Holden's role? looks random I'm picturing someone like Jeff Bridges Fassy is way too young to be the over-the-hill outlaw... Though, I do think he could be great in the Robert Ryan role (but again, too young).

I know he is still gonna direct the fuck out of this and a Western through a Gibson lens is everything I have dreamed of, and it's a decent cast so far assembling... but I just wish it wasn't The Wild Bunch. Not because the original text is holy and sanctified (it is), but because I just know there's juicier, fresher material out there. Imagine if Mad Mel got his hands on Blood Meridian.
