Supporting Actress FYC
Analeigh Tipton for Crazy, Stupid, Love (for adding likeability to a film riddled with idiots, assholes and caricatures, despite being far from a saint).
Adapted Screenplay
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (for taking one of the most complex, but excellent books I've ever read, and turning it into something rather easy to understand, without compromising on excellence...in many ways it might be the best adaptation to film of a book I've read).
Drive (for taking one of the worst books I've ever read and turning it into something good).
Best Song
For being an actually memorable song, relevant to the actual film and adding something to the proceedings...

I believe there is only like 5-6 minutes of original music in The Tree of Life. It's gotta be ineligible for this

Thanks Sharbs! I knew it was mostly classical pieces but had no idea there was only a few minutes of original work! This makes a lot of sense since personally I find Desplat's work to be mostly underwhelming (or flat out terrible like in Godzilla), yet I adore all the music in The Tree Of Life.

What year does Beyond the Black Rainbow land? Looks like the only 2010 release for it was the Whistler Film Festival (so not 2010, presumably), but I can't find the Canadian release date. U.S. release was 2012. So... um, appeal to the host? My search came up empty.

I'll throw in some FYCs for War Horse. As grossly cloying as the film sometimes was, the techs are for the most part phenomenal. It'd be a shame if it doesn't get noms for sound and cinematography, and downright unforgivable if it doesn't get noms for choreography and production deign. Props to Spielberg for staging such gutsy sequences with real horses. Next-level technical filmmaking there. It's a shame the story and Spielberg's relentless sappiness had to drag it down, but please don't let that prejudice you against the techs.

Just watched The Skin i Live In and Elena Ayana is incredible and deserves her plaudits.
Also, a bit of a side-note I didn't know that/that was her in Van Helsing being the sexiest vampire ever until today and life just felt like it came full circle.

I may get my ballot in after midnight tomorrow, but I promise that I'll get it in by morning. Been an exhausting weekend... and I've been procrastinating big time.
