Speaking of A Separation and Asghar, you know what that means... It means you have two more times to see About Elly for the 2009 awards. And if you haven’t already, then you need to get your asses on it. Y’all need to be told!

FYC:I'm tempering my FYC's with something possible this time. Get Mullan and Colman in for Tyrannosaur, and I'll be a marvelously happy man. Get it in for BP, director and whichever screenplay it fits into (I'd guess adapted, but it's a Whiplash scenario), and I will dedicate my life in slavery to you.

He never got the push that Colman did, despite being her blow-for-blow equal.

Mullan's brilliant and I wish I could squeeze him in, but my Top 7 is pretty damn tough: Jean Dujardin – The Artist Woody Harrelson – Rampart Demián Bichir – A Better Life Brendan Gleeson – The Guard Ryan Gosling – Drive Gary Oldman – Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy Matthias Schoenaerts – Bullhead If Schoenaerts is ineligible for this year, I'd swap him with Mullan.

Nah, Schoenaerts is eligible. In general, 2011 is a year of movies I really like, but few I love. Tyrannosaur is the exception. Ooooooooh, I just remembered that I have one more important FYC: Choreography for this, please! Director would be awesome as well, but it's not happening.

And I know people will overlook it because it’s animated, but PLEASE consider Rango for Visual Effects. I mean, look at this!

*pssst* is that the Tree of Life? I haven't actually seen it But I do have it on the shelf right now and plan on watching it when I get the chance. It is! Happens to be my favorite film of the 2010s so far. Got better and better each time I revisited it. What you think of it will largely depend on how you feel about Malick's style. It's basically a more focused, linear stab at the loose stream of consciousness approach that he's employed with varying levels of success this decade, so even if you don't like his output from To the Wonder onwards, there's still a chance you'll find things to appreciate here. Just make sure you see it in the best possible conditions (and vote for it in every single category afterwards, please and thank you ).

2010 films (in Letterboxd) I have seen that are eligible in 2011:
The Conspirator The Debt (I may as well make my entire supporting actress lineup "Jessica Chastain") Everything Must Go Meek's Cutoff (coincidentally, this is a movie title that describes its own ending) Tucker and Dale vs. Evil (too bad this year is so ridiculously strong, I'd love to vote for these boys) Tracker Trust

it'd be great if more people watched this beautiful Céline Sciamma film other FYCs I'll skip the obvious ones like Drive and Moneyball and Dragon Tattoo and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and get into the meat and potatoes. Take Shelter for Shannon, Nichols' directing and screenplay, Jessica Chastain, editing, sound mixing, and original song ("Shelter") The Aritst for Dujardin and the appropriate techs. Please don't give it nominations that it doesn't deserve, like screenplay. The Deep Blue Sea for Weisz, costumes, and Hoffmeister's GORGEOUS cinematography Albert Nobbs for Close, McTeer, and the aforementioned song Young Adult for Theron and Oswalt Bridesmaids for McCarthy (her best performance, don't sleep on it) and Wiig A Dangerous Method for Viggo Mortensen. The movie honestly worth watching just for him. Carnage for Christoph Waltz (among his most entertaining performance) Margin Call for Jeremy Irons, Kevin Spacey, and the screenplay The Descendants for Shailene Woodley. Extra points if Woodley is the film's only nomination. Win Win for Amy Ryan and Paul Giamatti Jane Eyre for cinematography, original score, and costume design W.E. for original score (this board doesn't appreciate Abel Korzeniowski enough) Contagion for Cliff Martinez Super 8 for visual effects and sound editing These are the films I want to catch up on before submitting a ballot:Tyrannosaur Another Earth Warrior Source Code Limitless PariahWar Horse (for the techs, there's no other reason I would watch this thing) and I guess, finally, Tree of Life.
