Depends on the project, but I wouldn't cop out with a Deakins/Lubezki lay-up. If I were to do my dream project and tackle Blood Meridian, though, I'd give Morten Søborg a call. Larry Smith would also be good.

Well obviously this depends on the kind of project I'd tackle. For a big epic I'd go with Janusz Kaminski, for a smaller one I'd choose Alexis Zabe. And Deakins for everything in between

I'd want Bradford Young to become my Deakins. We'd be legends!

Lubezki because I feel like I would want to experiment with a lot of long shots.

I thought this one out. If i became a Hollywood director my preferences would look like this First film would be an action thriller. I'll choose Robert Richardson Next a mystery drama. Would go with Roger Deakins. A wizarding world film- Bruno Delbonnel An Adaptation of Moby Dick- Emmanuel Lubezki 1920s noir- Roger Deakins King Ashoka biography and Kalinga War- Bruno Delbonnel

I'd want my first film to be a raw, visceral indie, so I'd ideally hire Anthony Dod Mantle and tell him, "Just make it look exactly like The Celebration." As for the DPs for my dream adaptations, they'd be as follows...
It (ten-part HBO or Netflix miniseries): Adam Arkapaw, shooting on film From Hell (six-part HBO or Netflix miniseries): Janusz Kaminsi, shooting on film, B&W, with NO digital intermediary (all old-school processing a la The Master) Lord Of The Flies: Emmanuel Lubezki, shooting on digital The Corrections: Robbie Ryan, shooting on digital

I'd be my own cinematographer so my authorial voice would overpower every aspect of the production.
