Not my first choice, but I did love Green Room. Miguel Sapochnik woulda been my pick. have you seen repo men? minus the conclusion I loved it and Sapochnik does a nice job as well. Haven't seen it, but I'm going on what Sapochnik did in S2 of True Detective where he managed to elevate the material greatly.

Saulnier and the Ozarks setting sound perfect for True Detective.

I wonder if it'll possibly feel a bit like a quasi horror. Well the first season definitely had elements of horror mixed in throughout, so here's hoping it can be more in the vein of that.

HUh? Please explain thanks. IMO he is tailor made to make True Detective. (dark & gritty all the way)

Terrific news! Blue Ruin remains one of the best suspense thrillers in recent memory, and Green Room was also a hard-hitting good time. Can't wait for both this and his next film Hold the Dark.

Both good actors. I just hope HBO doesn't fuck it up again.

Both good actors. I just hope HBO doesn't fuck it up again. I kind of like Season 2 (hit or miss to me) but I don't think you can blame HBO - that was Pizzolato almost exclusively no? I mean I know they have a reputation for meddling but in this case they gave the artist complete control, right - unless I'm mistaken and don't know the full story. I mean to blame HBO I guess puts us all in a weird spot because we'd be supporting the network instead of the artist - maybe HBO puts a tighter leash on episode amount, directors etc. that I could see - but season 1 worked because of Fukunaga and Pizzolato together.......and season 2 whether you like it or "failed" because of the ego of its creator who at least had earned the right to "fuck it up" himself based on season 1.

I wrote this comment at like 3:30 AM and was too lazy to look up the writer's name

Not bad, but after Season 2, I have no faith it'll be worth it. They need a good director to at least be involved anyway.

Okay, and at least Saulnier's doing every episode too. Yeah, that's more promising.

Well, that's just the bummer to end all bummers.
To be fair, Saulnier was only supposed to direct a couple of episodes, but I wonder what the hell happened. He was such a perfect fit for the series.

Yeah, I wonder exactly how much of it he was supposed to direct in the first place...
2 episodes is a quarter of the season... hopefully he set a nice tone for the rest of the season.
I'm still looking forward to it regardless.
