I love that look and the B/w shots. Oh honey, is there a French documentary? A friend of mine lent me gave me Isaki Lacuesta's La Noche Que No Se Acaba (the night that never ended), the Spanish documentary on Ava, so I could practise my Spanish. The Spanish Ava is very different from the Hollywood one and you get the impression that she liked to vacation in Spain so that she could party hard and hell raise without it getting back to the studios. One of the Spanish talking heads says that in 1950s Madrid, it was almost impossible to find a man that hadn't slept with Ava... bullfighters, waiters, barmen, she took them all to her bed. She was tremendously insecure about her looks (wtf?) and needed reassurance constantly that she was desirable. There is some wonderful footage of Ava bullfighting. She also liked to dance flamenco. One of the funny stories is that Pandora was shot in Catalonia (Northern Spain) and all the townsfolk had to take flamenco lessons and dress up like they were from Southern Spain, which culturally is very different! I haven't watched all of it as my high school Spanish isn't that great so I have to keep replaying it to understand it fully! One of her Spanish friends says that Ava hated Hollywood after they dubbed her in Showboat. She never forgave them. Her singing voice isn't unpleasant at all.

MsMovieStar - Yes, honey! Check out the trailer in the link in my OP. It's quite good, too - definitely watch it if you have FilmStruck. Don't you just love Pandora and the Flying Dutchman? It's such a strange, whimsical adventure. LaraQ - How about Monica Bellucci? Or Eva Green? Linda Evangelista also channelled her in a photoshoot soon after her death in 1990 - Check it out.

No honey, there should be a law passed that Chanel should only be played by a French woman.
I almost died when I watched Shirley Maclaine in Coco... I spent half the movie thinking, when does she become a clown?

Every time someone channels a classic Hollywood beauty, you're just reminded of how beautiful she was..no comparison here. About the only person who did Liz Taylor justice was sherilyn fenn.

Remember when Porsha Williams tried to channel Dorothy Dandridge? ugh.....seriously. Im still trying to figure out why she's supposed to be cute. I know a lot of people here don't know Dorothy but she was a beautiful woman even more so than others during her time.

So, Eiza Gonzalez posted pictures of Ava in Pandora and the Flying Dutchman to her Instagram stories to show the inspiration for her Met Ball look... What do we think? She's obviously a big fan of 1950s classic actresses as she say's she is producing and starring in a biopic of Mexican legend and beauty, Maria Felix, who was as gorgeous as Ava.

She looks gorgeous, not quite on Ava's level, but then who is?.The before and after pictures of Eiza are quite something. She's had some of the best surgery I've ever seen.

I always found Rosemary McGrotha could have a similar appeal as Ava Gardner. Google her, please, I'm totally unable to link photos here, sorry. images.app.goo.gl/qDGotD6XNQPjSbEX7

24 MAY 2009 - ‘Coco Chanel & Igor Stravkinsky’ closed the Cannes film festival, and so of course Mouglalis had to make sure that she wore an outfit to remember. But never fear, Karl Lagerfeld of Chanel was on hand. Lagerfeld created the emerald gown in homage to Ava Gardner whom Lagerfeld feels Mouglalis resembles.LaraQ MsMovieStar
