That Meg number whoa. Could be frontloaded, but there's a possibility of it doing 40m. Never saw that coming.

Solid for The Meg. Happy as I'm a Statham fan. Of course Deadline has had the film out to be a box office flop for a while now, so they're underselling it. deadline.com/2018/08/the-meg-chomps-a-huge-4m-on-thursday-night-box-office-1202443644/ RANK FILM DIS. Curious how Slender Man is going to do overall because that was so five years ago.

good for Statham & everyone involved with The Meg. The budget is reportedly $150 million so it better have some legs (and a good overseas showing).

I've been kinda following this "The Meg" project for quite some time now, back from the early days when Jan De Bont was supposed to direct it, and then Eli Roth. Although it lost its R rating aspirations in the process and now looks like a pretty generic creature flick, I'm still kinda happy for this damn thing. Means all the production trouble wasn't in vain.

Let me join all the people in here offering congratulations to a gigantic piece of shit shark movie that is corporately assembled, pandering, and infinitely bland! Cheers to the men in suits foisting garbage on us of a different color for the millions that may expand your mansions!

I'm genuinely delighted this is a hit, as it is exactly the kind of thing that'll rile up the cinema douche snobs I disdain.

Why would you go and see a movie you were clearly going to hate to start with...I just don't get that at all. Have you even seen it? I went in hoping to like it because shark movies absolutely rule (eg. The Shallows and 47 Meters Down). There is no way you would be defending this shit if you'd seen it. It isn't as though it's some secretly great schlocky film, it's horrendously made and bland as humanly possible.

good for Statham & everyone involved with The Meg. The budget is reportedly $150 million so it better have some legs (and a good overseas showing). THEY PUT $150M INTO THAT SHIT?! Jeez. They make those Sharknado movies for like $500 in Olive Garden vouchers... and those probably make more money than this will.
