So people made their way through Kurosawa's directing filmography but didn't make their way through Olivier's acting filmography or Depardieu's?
Auteur whores........the lot of ya.

Nonsense, he gave impressive subtle performances throughout his career including The Quiet Duel, and High and Low, which both predate Red Beard. IYO. I don't think that negates the other stuff in his filmography though. To each his own, guy. "IYO?" Don't you know I'm a robot, all my statements are facts, I'm incapable of having an opinion.

Surprised that he didn't make that Top 10 , though Peaked at #11 I took note, as I thought it might be a point of interest.

I expect Phoenix to be even higher in a few years.

Well, it's a marked improvement on last time for Denzel. At this rate, by 2025, he might even sneak into the top 10 on a forum like this Phoenix is this edition's Brad Pitt as expected. Gary Oldman is way too low.

If Washington was #1 on 3 ballots (wtf) and Phoenix was #1 on a ballot (wtf) the mind-boggles at the potential DDL tsunami

PSH - probably the greatest post 70s American actor (arguable) is also a crucially important too - he's not just a "character" actor, he's the guy who fulfilled what Cazale was hinting at in the 70s - the sidekick, the oddfellow, who carves out an entire world from what he's given and built a whole tapestry of characterizations from that.
Monumental actor.........
