Other FYCs: The Raid: Redemption in all categories (esp. Score & Choreography - nothing else should even come close) Premium Rush has something to say about that. If for no other reason than that the action scenes don't drag on interminably without anyone getting an upper hand.

I remember wanting to see it so badly because of my love for JGL at the time. Anyway, I'd say The Raid has some of the best fight choreography I've ever seen and is a big reason why I love the film so much.

My problem with The Raid is simple: it is an endless orgy of violence that (a.) never attempts to have characters, and (b.) has fight scenes that are choreographed to be legions of mooks rushing a martial arts master and getting slaughtered -- or fight scenes that are just trading blows without anyone really getting a discernible upper hand and changing the tide of battle. The fight between the brothers and that one bad guy is what I'm thinking of with the latter: it goes on FOR AGES. As for Premium Rush, I highly recommend it. If for no other reason than Michael Shannon going full ham as the villain (probably gonna be my supporting actor win of the year).

I appreciate the lengthy input, at least it's not just hate for the sake of hate. Though I suppose we'll likely agree to disagree here, especially where that fight with the brothers & Mad Dog is concerned (I enjoyed that it took longer as they're three experts battling it out, the mooks vs. master argument I can get behind though). Regardless, that's high praise for Premium Rush so maybe I ought to have checked that one out way back when.

I actually appreciate the choreography for the intricacy of it, but this is the big problem I have with the movie. The plot and characters only serve as framework for the fight scenes, and the plot is soooooo inane and paper-thin that they had to pad the action or the movie would have been 40 minutes long. The fact that these fight scenes go on so long speaks volumes to plot's mind-numbing arbitrariness and laziness. Gareth Evans would have written anything as long as it gave him the chance to indulge in this orgy of bloody, muscly, sweaty bros. I watch some of the fight scenes on youtube every now and then for shits and giggles, but as a full-length 100-minute project, it's total trash.

Those doing FYCs please post the name of the movie. Not everyone can catch a movie's title by one random picture.

VOTED some additional FYC
A Royal Affair (just watched this) Picture Director - Arcel Actor - Mikkelsen (i actually didn't vote for him bc this category is so incredibly strong. I extended this category in my own lineups to 9, but I's be glad if he made it) Actress - Vikander Supporting Actor - Folsgaard Adapted Screenplay Ensemble all the design techs
The Broken Circle Breakdown (already included this in last post, but I want more people to watch this and be sad) Picture Actress - Baetens Adapted Screenplay
Lawless Supporting Actress - Chastain Supporting Actress - Wasikowska Ensemble
Holy Motors Picture Director - Carax Actor - Lavant Supporting Actress - Scob Original Screenplay Cinematography Costume Design Makeup & Hair (all-time #1) Original Song - "Accordion Intermission" Original Song - "Who Were We?"
Also a supporting actor double nod for McConaughey would be splendid (should've had a double in the '13 AMARAs too)
