In that case, Dune will barely play a part, and her character will hog the main narrative.

He seems to be tapped to play Beast Rabban, which he'd obviously crush . . . but I'd be down to see him as Duncan Idaho, too. EDIT: If Denis is going to be going back to the well of previous actors he's worked with, I hope he finds space for Daniel Kaluuya, Ana de Armas, Hiam Abbass (as Gaius Helen!), Barkhad Abdi . . .

There's no movie I'm more excited for than this. Villeneuve and Dune seems a match made in heaven and him, Chalamet and Ferguson make such a dream team. Happy to see Bautista return.
However, I will say, Hollywood sexism is having Ferguson play Chalamet's mother, who is only 12 years younger than her.

He'd be a perfect Gurney Halleck. EDIT: Wait, he's playing Baron Harkonnen?! That'll be . . . something.

Rumors are also in the wind that Mark Strong is being courted to play Gurney Halleck.
So . . . who to play Feyd? I've seen Will Poulter, Lucas Hedges, and Bill Skarsgard all bandied about.

Nice I like him. His career has been in kind of a downturn hopefully it picks up.

Oscar Isaac, huh? Funny, as I feel like Isaac was very much the Chalamet of the 2012-2014 stretch, when everyone seemed to think he could do no wrong and he was the hottest commodity on the market. I think it's solid enough casting if he's Duke Leto.

Apparently Zendaya is looking to be cast as Chani.
I don't have any real opinion on her acting talent -- I didn't like her in The Greatest Showman but no one came out of that film unharmed, and I still haven't seen Spider-Man: Homecoming (I know, I know) -- but I was really hoping for Amandla Stenberg.

I when I saw that Zendaya was rumored I instantly went: No no no no no. Rather Amandla Stenberg or someone else. I will never get over ThePlaylist calling Zendaya the 7th greatest industry break-in (from any fields) in 2017 for her turn in Homecoming. Anyone but her please.

I'm lukewarm on Villeneuve, but this definitely has potential.
I'm curious about the possible runtime for this thing. Does anyone imagine it being longer than 2049?

Apparently it's supposed to be split into two films, probably to avoid the long run time criticism of BR. So I'm guessing no more than 130-150 minutes max.

It hurts my soul that Johann Johannsson is unable to do the score for this. Listening to Mandy (his finest work and one of the great swan songs of a composer), you could almost hear the DNA of Arrakis in it.

I still want Daniel Kaluuya as Duncan Idaho. Also, I know the Emperor is described as looking in his thirties despite being over seventy, but I do want him to be an older, more seasoned actor. Charles Dance or Stephen Dillane would be the dream.
