Looks good. Like a cross between True Detective and LA Confidential.

Starring Chris Pine and India Eisley, directed by Patty Jenkins - connected in some way to the Black Dahlia murder (not entirely sure how).
Will you be watching?

I'll be giving the pilot a shot for sure.
But I also have True Detective, Mrs Maisel, and Counterpart I need to catch up on. Plus, I would like to check out The Passage, despite middling reviews.

I'll probably see it, but the film version of the story so let me down - and I love DePalma more than anyone in his 76-83 great period, and at one time would have considered him perfect to direct - I've soured on the story overall.
Werner Herzog always talks about "ecstatic truth" - the difference between film "facts" and "truth" (a brilliant film theory btw that can be found a lot on Youtube) - the facts in the case do not tell the truth and the further you get away from the facts you have nothing at all. So I'm hesitant to dive into this story.
I'm curious a little but the James Ellroy novel got the fictional side of the story right and so did things that are nothing at all like it but capture the unspeakable feel of the case and LA (in some ways Mulholland Drive is like that and that's not remotely similar) - it's the Jack the Ripper story of America.........who did it isn't the point now imo and any attempts to fictionalize get you away from truth and ecstatic truth.

Would not the Zodiac be our Jack the Ripper?

This sound intriguing. I'll add it to my increasingly long watchlist.

Off to a solid start but this is definitely a show where I won’t have a full opinion until I’ve finished it. Chris Pine is pretty good. He’s playing a cocky asshole which seems familiar but he clearly has some hidden demons and I’m really liking India Eisley so far.

I thought this was terrible. Some of the worst exposition I've seen in a long time and the techs felt pretty cheap. I try not to be stickler for facts because you can take liberties with adaptations -- but why invent Pine's character? He felt out of place from the get. The time period is amazing and this story is so, so bizarre... but this was a hot mess.
