Yes , this absolutely cruel . My heart breaks for those poor kids . Even a lot of Conservatives agree that the whole thing is so fucked up . Reminds me of the Holocaust when Nazis were separating children from their parents .

This is the reason I'm not a Republican. This right here. I don't understand how my conservative mother, who says this is absolutely wrong, can stand by and still stand by her vote for Trump after this. To be fair, she considered him the lesser of two evils, but if everyone who did consider him the lesser of two evils actually voted third party like me, maybe something would change for the next election.

No one should be troubled by this news. They should be incensed. They should be banging down their representatives' doors and flooding their phone lines to stop this. But no one will. As Joaquin Phoenix's character in Hotel Rwanda wisely observed: "People are going to say 'that's terrible.' And then go on eating their dinners."

I think at the end of the day, if you admit you made a huge mistake then you would look like a horrible person. It's called saving face.

I remember when people were using the Japanese-American internment camps as a extreme example of what the Trump Administration stands for, but this...this is so much worse. It's unfathomable that this is occurring in America in 2018. The only consolation I can take from it is that these events and all those who defended these policies will be made to hold their heads in shame when these things are exposed as sickening violations of human rights that they are. No one supporting this vile inhumane treatment will be able to defend themselves in the court of public opinion decades from now. They are now and forever on the WRONG side of history. When that time comes, there will be no debate, no forgiving, no forgetting. I hope the guilt haunts them to their graves.

Heard today doing what they did cost eight times as much as if they had just kept them in the same place. There's really no apparent motivation for it at all aside from just going out of their way to be cruel.

that's not the same...they were trying to keep them in and we are trying to keep that out.....the trump rep that said that is a moron.

This isn't a law, it's a policy that was instated two months ago by the Trump administration (Jeff Sessions, to be precise), and not only is there an indefinite "implementation phase" before Trump's executive order takes actual effect, during which the current practice still stands, the White House still hasn't announced that the 2,300 children that are being held in custody will be reunited with their parents. They might be at some point, but it's unclear when/if that'll happen. So no, this isn't cancelled.

I was misinformed which lead me to being wrong so I deleted my post. The Obama administration did put the children in detention centers and cages, but they didn't deliberately separate the kids from the families like the Trump administration was doing with the zero tolerance policy that they implemented a few months ago. The zero tolerance policy is still in effect though and the 2000+ kids are still being held in the detention centers.

It’s sad that there needs to be a massive public outcry for the government to realize that what their doing is severely inhumane and wrong (wouldn’t be surprised if they know it’s wrong but do it anyways). It’s 2018 and the most influential country in the world that’s all about ‘fighting for equality’ is still doing this kind of shit and think they can get away with it? So fucking despicable.
