Just finished binging this. Overall I quite liked it. It had some minor issues but so do most series. Pretty watchable 8 episodes with Sandra Oh doing some great work and Jodie Comer playing a very believable psychopath.

Binged it over the weekend. The plotline definitely stretches the limits of plausibility more than a few times, but the writing is consistently clever and nimble enough that you're never fully taken out of the story. Comer is a fucking revelation and commands your attention every second she's on screen. A true breakout performance IMO. But really, the entire cast is aces, even if Oh feels somewhat out of place amongst everyone else (the American-in-UK angle never really feels entirely natural TBH). Also loved the abundance of scenery porn.

I'm three episodes deep into S2 and don't think I'm inclined to continue. Villanelle's shenanigans are really stretching the limits of plausibility even for a TV show and frankly the cat-and-mouse dynamic between the two leads isn't nearly as compelling this time around. I also still don't think Oh is right for this character, and this has just become even more apparent now that the show around her has lost its luster.
It doesn't help that the somewhat comparable Barry is KILLING (heh) it this season and it sucking up nearly all of my attention now.

I really wish Maggie Cheung had come out of retirement for this role. She speaks English with a lovely RP accent, so there wouldn't be this weird (frankly implausible) element of an American working for MI6. Also she's one of the greatest actors to have ever lived.

haven't watched the last season yet and probably won't for awhile. This thing was a downturn ever since Phoebe departed as showrunner after S1 (why Phoebe WHY) and word on the street is that it limps over the finish line. I will see it, I mean I have to at this point. It's obligatory. Gotta see it through.
but since there's been no activity in this thread since 2019 I just wanted to leave this here. What a cool trailer. Almost gives me a glimmer of hope. Almost.

I’m only watching this last season (season 4) bc Jodie Comer is such a talented actress to watch, but my god, it’s so fucking silly. It’s so incoherent and all over the place.
And I’m sorry but Sandra Oh is annoying af in this show and has been from the start. I think she was miscast

More power to anyone still sticking this out. I bailed shortly into the 3rd season and don’t have any regrets.

That ending was hot garbage. And it hurts even more because the first six episodes were actually really entertaining. In some ways I had made peace with the inevitability of that character death because I was spoiled beforehand but like... could they have gone about it in a worse possible way?? I kept waiting in the finale for something, anything to click into place for that ending to feel remotely earned, and it never came. Penultimate episode was weak, actually the first of the season I was ambivalent about, but the finale was a cringey, badly-paced, horribly-edited, incoherent, anticlimatic and confusing hot mess from start to finish. So many bad decisions, so many truly awful lines. I've never seen a season of television take such a pronounced nosedive in the final episode.
