I'm gonna guess you haven't read the book.
Flanagan's done well with King before. Hopefully he can scrub the stink of Akiva Goldsman's script off of this.

Sounds interesting. He is a promising director but he has script issues as well as a diversity issue.

So, are they gonna follow book Shining, or are they gonna follow Kubrick Shining? If the former, that’ll confuse audiences so much. If the latter, they’re gonna have to retcon the hell out of some stuff.
If they’re gonna do this, I wish they’d just go all out, and redo The Shining first. Something closer to the source that isn’t whatever the hell that miniseries was.

The Doctor Sleep book is a mixed bag. I liked how he dealt with Danny's alcoholism but the villains were garbage. Interesting concept but the characters themselves were so annoying.

So will this be the 876th King adaptation to feature Thomas Jane?

I liked Gerald's Game just fine, but Lanthimos or Aronofsky should be the ones to make a sequel to The Shining.

This could be good, but this has a lot to overcome. I'm also curious if it'll follow the book or film more closely.

Good choice I think. I've see four films from him and liked or quite liked all of them.

I'm surprised they didn't go with the usual Stephen King stand-by, Thomas Jane.

I hope they can come up with a better villain than Rose the Hat.

So they are planning to expand the universe of The Shining in films. How interesting!

Isn't the book blah?

Well The Shining was a blah book, and Kubrick made a blah film, so it'll be in blah company.

This could be pretty good, if they play their cards right. Flanagan is a solid horror filmmaker.

That’s neat and all, but what are they gonna do about continuity? I’m assuming they’re just gonna ignore Kubrick’s Shining (because from what I hear, they’d have to retcon the shit out of that to get this to work), and just follow Book Shining. If so, *why* can’t they just remake The Shining closer to its source? Because that’s gonna he confusing to those who assume it is a Kubrick Shining sequel.
