Listened to this twice in a row through the livestream and holy shit, I love it. The second listen through was even better. Gonna be another one of those albums where it takes multiple listens to fully get everything out of it. This album is great and everything I expected it to be. Wow. The tracks #1, #2, #3, #5, and #7 are the standouts for me. I can’t say the song names because apparently Spotify and other music apps have them fucked up.

It's quite good, but I don't find it as interesting as ye, which seems to be the minority opinion. The time imbalance between the early and the late tracks bothered me some, especially when I feel like you could have cut a minute out of "Reborn," which is still probably the best track and lost nothing. I was also disappointed in "Freeee (Ghost Town, Pt. 2)" given how I've been playing its predecessor non-stop for the past week.
I wanna listen to it a couple more times before I go further in depth on my overall thoughts of the album. Throwing out criticisms, especially when they're this minor, is easy.

First impression - I liked this a bit more than Ye. Neither album is that impressive to me honestly. Just solid.

Yeah, it seems like people are liking this album quite a bit more. Myself included. The more I listen to Ye, the more I agree on it feeling like it was incomplete. The reports that he scrapped his whole album and made this one in just a few weeks makes sense to me. Making an album of that pedigree in just a few weeks or so though is nothing short of amazing. There’s 2-3 songs on there that I consider great and I don’t think it’s as much of a hot mess as people are saying. Kids See Ghosts though, oh my. The mood of it is great. It feels like a mix of Yeezus and Man on the Moon 2 to me, both albums of which I love. Kanye’s rapping in this is some of the best I’ve heard. Cudi on the other hand gives the album a very chill and psychedelic vibe to it, which nicely counters Kanye’s anger.

I finally see some people who love it. I've heard so much hate towards it from hip hop fans I know. I really like Fire and the title track Kids See Ghosts. You know why it's not going over well with hip hop heads? Because I think it sounds like it's a prog rock album with hip hop artists. It's progressive hip hop. That said, Kanye brings it down a little for me whenever I hear him. I would have rather it been all Cudi.
Pusha T still has the best 7-song Good Music album so far though. Boy do I hope Cyhi gets one.

Re-listened to it a couple times and yeah, it's great. I still find ye more interesting overall since it goes through such a wide range of topics and is like a open pamphlet on Kanye's psyche since coming to terms with his mental health, but I can see why a lot see Kids See Ghosts as the more polished work: it's very comprehensibly focused on the recovery of Kanye and Cudi and forward push to better themselves in finding some light in the darkness. "4th Dimension," "Reborn" (which I still think runs about a minute too long), and "Cudi Montage" are probably my favorite songs off the album.
Absolutely cannot wait for the new Nas album. Hell, I'm at a point where I want Kanye to produce music for everybody. Get Danny Brown over there, get André 3000's ass into the studio, force Eminem to limit himself to 7 songs, give J. Cole some actually interesting beats to spit over, and fuck it let's have him and Paul McCartney work together for a full album. Do everything.

Kids See Ghosts (all time great) 2. Daytona (great) 3. Ye (really good) My three favorite songs off of Kids See Ghosts match with yours. I agree with your complaint about Reborn. It should’ve been around a minute shorter and I see a lot of people who love the song saying the same thing. I also would’ve cut the last 20-30 seconds or so out of Fire.

He has a shitty taste in music for the most part though so that’s whatever. It has a 9.3 on metacritic too from the audience, which is very impressive. I can see why there’d be hate though as it’s definitely progressive hip hop like you said. I’m interested to see where the Kids See Ghosts collaboration go from here. Hopefully they’re not doing a one and done.
