Gonna limit it to one song per artist, or otherwise it'd be a list entirely comprised of The Boss.
"Jungleland" ~ Bruce Springsteen "In Dreams" ~ Roy Orbison "Shelter from the Storm" ~ Bob Dylan "Mr. Bad Example" ~ Warren Zevon "American Tune" ~ Paul Simon "Mona Lisa" ~ Nat King Cole "Lodi" ~ Creedence Clearwater Revival "No Other Love" ~ Jo Stafford "With or Without You" ~ Scala and Kolacny Brothers "Time After Time" ~ Cyndi Lauper

I can't come up with anything close to a definitive list for this, so I'll just shoot from the hip on this one:
1. "Bohemian Rhapsody," Queen (honestly, the fact this song is so far out ahead is part of why I have a hard time coming up with a top 10) "Be My Baby," The Ronettes "Closer," Nine Inch Nails "Hallelujah," originally by Leonard Cohen but I adore various covers of it "Hey Ya!," Outkast "Let's Stay Together," Al Green "Life on Mars," David Bowie "The Long and Winding Road," The Beatles (Let It Be... Naked version) "Runaway," Kanye West "Stan," Eminem
Not wholly satisfied with this list, but it's a start. Lately I've been listening to Roy Orbison's "Crying," Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill," and Spandau Ballet's "True" a lot so I want to give them a shout out.

"Time After Time" ~ Cyndi Lauper Great list overall, but I wanted to single this one out especially because I had a full conversation just two hours ago about how much of a masterpiece this song is.

Waterloo Sunset - The Kinks I don't listen to this song that often because when I do it makes me nostalgic for something I never had.

Keeping it to one per artist (there'd be loads of Radiohead and Beatles otherwise) and pop/rock. The order is rough.
The Rain Song- Led Zeppelin Bohemian Rhapsody- Queen No Surprises- Radiohead Strawberry Fields Forever- The Beatles How Soon is Now- The Smiths All the Young Dudes- Mott the Hoople Teenage Dream- T Rex Shangri-La- The Kinks Beetlebum- Blur Teenage Riot- Sonic Youth

I honestly don't think I can be that definitive here, and this is a case of ask me tomorrow and only the first two will appear again, but I'll do my best...
01 "Try A Little Tenderness", The Commitments02 "I Am One" Smashing Pumpkins 03 "Shining Light", Ash 04 "Brain Damage" / "Eclipse", Pink Lloyd 05 "Champagne Supernova", Oasis 06 "Drinking in L.A.", Bran Van 3000 07 "Heat Wave", Martha And The Vandellas 08 "Rasputin", Boney M 09 "So Long Marianne", Leonard Cohen 10 "Ode to Billie Joe", Bobbie Gentry
I limited it to one song per band / artist.

My #9 is now..........
Group Four - Massive Attack

Well shit that is quite the tall order (probably why I've not responded to this thread yet) ... here is my pathetic stab at it, keeping it one per artist ... and my favorite tracks for many of these artists will vary by day so this list sure ain't definite and would be different tomorrow:
"How to Disappear Completely" | Radiohead "Five Years" | David Bowie "Ceremony" | Joy Division "Pink Rabbits" | The National "Heaven" | Talking Heads "Into My Arms" | Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds "For Real" | Okkervil River "Awful Sound (Oh Eurydice)" | Arcade Fire "Waltz #2" | Elliott Smith "Transatlantacism" | Death Cab for Cutie

I've never made a list like this before, so this list isn't definite or anything, as favourites in music change all the time. #1 is my all time favourite song right now, the rest are in no order:
1. "The Rotting Horse On The Deadly Ground" by Summoning "Jumalten Kaupunki / Tuhatvuotinen Perinto" by Moonsorrow "Eternal Battlefields" by Sear Bliss "To Mega Therion" by Therion "And Then There Was Silence" by Blind Guardian "In The Shadow Of Our Pale Companion" by Agalloch "Lady Fantasy" by Camel "The Cry Of Mankind" by My Dying Bride "The Ubiquitous Mr. Lovegrove" by Dead Can Dance "Seasonspeech" by Elvenking
