Doing what idioticbunny's been doing and going year-by-year to do lineups, but I decided to go through the 1910s first...even though I'm not doing lineups for the '10s.
Anyway, I got 23 feature length films and a lot more shorts (113 to be exact). Here's a ranking of the 23:
1. Intolerance (Griffith, 1916) 2. The Outlaw and His Wife (Sjostrom, 1918) 3. J'accuse! (Gance, 1919) 4. The Queen of Spades (Protazanov, 1916) 5. The Student of Prague (Rye/Wegener, 1913) 6. The Birth of a Nation (Griffith, 1915) 7. Back to God's Country (Hartford, 1919) 8. The False Faces (Willat, 1919) 9. A Man There Was (Sjostrom, 1917) 10. L'inferno (Liguoro/Bertolini/Padovan, 1911) 11. The President (Dreyer, 1919) 12. Regeneration (Walsh, 1915) 13. Hearts of the World (Griffith, 1918) 14. Atlantis (Blom, 1913) 15. The End of the World (Blom, 1916) 16. The Avenging Conscience (Griffith, 1914) 17. Madame DuBarry (Lubitsch, 1919) 18. The Wicked Darling (Browning, 1919) 19. The Whispering Chorus (DeMille, 1918) 20. A Romance of Happy Valley (Griffith, 1919) 21. The Little Princess (Neilan, 1917) 22. Cleopatra (Gaskill, 1912) 23. Victory (Tourneur, 1919)
It's a pretty good haul and I liked the majority of them.
Ok, for 1920 I've already seen The Golem and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. I got the following lined up to watch:
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde The Penalty Outside the Law The Parson's Widow From Morning to Midnight
Need some recs to go with these (and the links to watch them online would be appreciated).

A pretty solid list here, though I'll admit that the only film of the 1910s I've seen so far is Birth of a Nation. Really regretting not watching Intolerance now, but I'll come back to it some day. As for 1920: Been waiting to watch Dr. Jekyll for my usual October horror-thon, but The Penalty is good if only for Lon Chaney's remarkable performance. Outside the Law was pretty disappointing, but again - another remarkable Chaney performance (save the racist yellowface stuff). Not seen or heard of the other two. Only ones I might highly recommend that are missing are Sjostrom's Monastery of Sendomir which is far and away my favorite of the year (and pretty short as well - should be able to find on YouTube) and The Saphead which is possibly Buster Keaton's best performance (in a true acting role, not just the cool stunts stuff he did later on - though there is quite a bit of that on display as well). Should also be able to find this on YouTube (the nice thing about silent era stuff, it's all practically public domain!). Other than that, Way Down East I might recommend, but only because Lillian Gish gives (so far) my favorite Lead Actress performance ever. Just a powerhouse actress, and I highly recommend you watch as much stuff from her as you can get your hands on (again, YouTube). Either way, hoping to hear your thoughts as you continue on down! EDIT: Also, whatever isn't on YouTube, or in poor quality there, always check archive.org - they tend to have just about every silent film and in good quality.

That's a sexy top three you got there. So glad to see Gance make it. He's such an underappreciated icon in silent cinema.
For 1920, I'd recommend:
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Anna Boleyn The Golem: How He Came Into the World The Last of the Mohicans Leaves from Satan’s Book The Mark of Zorro The Monastery of Sendomir Way Down East Within Our Gates

Also agree with stephen on Gance. Hope you check out La Roue and especially Napoleon when you get to 1923 and 1927 respectively. They're super fuckin' long, but absolutely worth it (helps if you break them into chunks like I did).

I got one for Napoleon but I just checked the link I had and it got taken down. Shit

Yeah, along with Louis Feuillade (who is essential viewing for the 1910s and who might be as essential as Griffith), Gance's work lends itself to watching it in episodes. I'd classify Dieudonne's portrayal of Napoleon as the best male performance in the silent era (or second, depending on Gibson Gowland in Greed) and he remains the definitive portrayal of Napoleon.

I found a 4 hour cut of Napoleon on fmovies and La Roue split into two parts on YouTube. La Roue has been up since February so maybe it'll stay up by the time I get to '23.

The way I watched Napoleon was on Dailymotion which had it split into 6 parts I believe (which also made it easier to watch as well). Looking at the old link, I've found parts 2-6, but can't seem to find part 1... Also for La Roue I signed up to a site called Fandor (it's actually super useful during the silent era, but beyond that you might as well cancel it).

Also agree with stephen that Albert Dieudonne is the perfect Napoleon Bonaparte (though I thought the child actor who played young Napoleon was the MVP of the film personally), but I'd add Emil Jannings in The Last Command and Victor Sjostrom in The Phantom Carriage as even better performances from the 1920s (my opinion of course). Those films, by the way, are in my top three of the decade (the other being Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans which is an absolute essential outside of the Chaplin films and Battleship Potemkin).
