Damn.
Have still only read one of his novels, but I absolutely love his style and need to get to more of his work. There's no doubting that this guy was one of the most prominent writers of his time, and arguably one of the last living literary icons. RIP.

One of the greats indeed and with the passing of Tom Wolfe recently also, the passing of an era really too.

Indeed one of the greats. I don't put him in the highest tier, but he definitely had a fine style. "The Human Stain" is fantastic. "Nemesis" is a gem too. And while I don't hold "American Pastoral" in as high regard as others do, it certainly has it's moments.

The last book I completed happened to be a Phillip Roth novel (the excellent Nemesis). One of our foremost writers. A great loss. RIP.
