I think "The Aviator" is something out of this world but man, talk about an abundance of great work! One of the best we have.

Wow, I wasn't aware that he has already won three oscars. He's a very great cinematographer, but probably I wouldn't have put him among the very best.
However his work in Hugo is amazing and for me his best. But he did a fantastic job in JFK as well.

I am not a fan of his work with Scorsese and his Tarantino work is hit-and-miss with me, but the man is magic with his early Oliver Stone collaborations. Born on the Fourth of July and JFK are my votes.
EDIT: With that said, Live by Night is hideously underrated as a film, and his work in it is as well.

His work in JFK more than speaks for itself and I really love the aesthetic of Django Unchained, the shadows and whip zooms in that movie are absolutely perfect to me.

JFK is the obvious choice, but Inglorious Basterds is hugely underrated. Easily Tarantino's best looking film.

Went with Inglourious Basterds today. And I'm gonna be honest, I wasn't swept off my feet by JFK with its sepia color palette. It's Richardson-lite.

Some of his work I find ugly, unappealing, distracting. But he’s definitely grown into a better dp I think. The Aviator might be his best, all around great work: in terms of movement, framing, and especially use of color. Hugo if anything is a technical display, there are a lot of “showy” visuals there. Hateful Eight probably my favorite tho just due to my taste—Western motifs, the snow, split diopters, the 70mm.
