Happy Birthday to a legend.
Given some of the most iconic, unforgettable performances in film history. A great stage actor. A consumate risk taker who wasn't afraid to fall flat on his face, and maybe the 2nd greatest American actor living.
A great scene from Carlito's Way. In some ways his most underappreciated performance. Elegaic and tough at the same time. I know people kind of rate it, but it more than stands up to anything he's done, aside from the first two Godfathers. imho. Really wish if they were going to give him a lead Oscar in the 90's, it would have been for Carlito instead of Scent of A Woman.

Happy birthday to the big man!
Together with De Niro, the most electrifying actor of his generation. And I always loved his voice, such a great timbre, he and Keitel, love them.
A nice fan trailer for Heat.
Then what is one of my favorite scenes in that film. The first time they "look" at each other. Great direction, editing, all of it. Love love love that short moment when it seems like they're face to face.
And of course Al doing Shakespeare: "The villainy you teach me I will execute—and it shall go hard..."

One thing I'd like to say about him is that there are many different sides to him - and it's really fun to look at. Like everyone knows his big movies posted in this thread (good picks guys!) but he also has whole other careers in a way. Shakespeare and classical roles (Salome)........self-financed film roles......plays into films......TV films.......there's so many sides to him - it's great fun to be a fan. Some of my favorite films from him are those odd quirkier ones - Local Stigmatic (my avatar), Chinese Coffee, Looking For Richard, The Humbling etc. So as a little tribute to them on his birthday I'll post one of his most interesting character performances - and this performance may not even make his top 25 for me ?!?! - that's how deep his career on film (not counting stage) goes. I know Mattsby and TerryMontana are fans of this one......but maybe this will inspire people who only know his bigger films to check out the "other" Al's too. This scene is very funny and in a second turns on a dime.....enjoy. pacinoyes: A powerful performance in a very uneven film, I think. Brings to mind another Al performance in one of his self-financed, self-directed films I love:

Figured I'd use this thread since the one from last year is more of a lovefest career overview thread .......a little early but it's 4/25 in Australia The only living American actor with the Triple Crown (for almost 20 years now) and with more Triple Crown wins than anyone everNow, that doesn't make him the best - um.........though he is the best - that just means he has a lot of awards to throw at your head while screaming at you....... Happy 81st Birthday GOAT

It's my favorite stat: Al Pacino is the only US or UK male actor to win all "Big 6" individual awards - BAFTA, Emmy, Tony, SAG, Oscar, Golden GlobeBut let's pretend they ^ all won them too........and then let's pretend they won each award once - that would be 6 awards - that would be really impressive, right?........ Al Pacino doubled that - he's won 12 - but he actually did it in real life ...... and he set that record in the most competitive acting era(s) ........winning in 5 decades (60s, 70s, 90s, 00s, 10s)........and did it without winning any of those 12 for The Godfather (1972) (um)......... and then he just went ahead and broke his own stupid record again....... because no one else was going to do it in real life anyway .......and because he's an f'n show-off apparently. Happy 82nd Birthday GOAT

Happy Birthday to the second greatest American actor. It's such a pleasure to see him and few others legends still going strong in their 80's, may he spoils us with his genius again and over again. Haven't watched Sea of Love in its entirety since 2000, it's more than time for a rewatch.
