Emma better god a nom if she had to drop out of Gerwig's movie to promote/campaign for this. I was thinking more along the lines of Olivia being the one who scores the nod. I've got a sneaking suspicion Stone gets in lead and Colman winds up getting category-frauded into supporting, where she may very well win.

Kinda funny how Fox Searchlight is now pushing this as something more accessible now that it has legitimate Oscar chances. This admittedly makes it look much, much better than the teaser did. Colman looks fantastic; not too sure about Stone's accent though...

Honestly, I have got chill the hell out when it comes to my hopes and expectations for this film. I am officially overly hyped, and that trailer has not helped. That snort of derision from Stone...if I had a monocle, it would have dropped.

Now that's a helluva trailer. Can't believe a Yorgos Lanthimos movie has become my most anticipated of the year, but here we are.

Based on the two Lanthimos films I've seen (Lobster and Sacred Deer), I'm not a fan of his at all.
That being said, this looks fantastic! That trailer definitely makes the film look more accessible, but there's still a definite eccentric edge that really makes it pop. I know Colman is getting all the raves, and she does look like terrific fun here (and I'm a massive fan of her's in general), but I'm loving Stone and Weisz even more.
Definitely one of my most anticipated for the rest of the year.

She still has a throaty, Emma Stone-esque timbre to her voice, but from what I can discern of what she's saying, it's certainly not the worst attempt I've ever heard an American actress give.

I'm not a fan of Lathimos and I had very mixed feelings about the first trailer but this looks absolutely incredible and has shot way up to the top of my most anticipated of the year. Still a bit cautious on Lathimos but this was so much up my alley it's not even funny. Predicting Stone gets pushed to leading, Colman to supporting where she'll win and Weisz will be ignored.

To me, they all look like they should be in the Lead category, as the three roles seem pretty equal. If not, possibly Colman supporting and the other two lead. However, I think the studio will push for Stone in lead and the other two supporting. Colman's a lock, and Weisz getting a nom will depend on how strong the film really is with awards voters. She definitely looks like she deserves a place.

How badly do y'all think Winslet regrets dropping out of the Weisz role for Wonder Wheel?

How badly do y'all think Winslet regrets dropping out of the Weisz role for Wonder Wheel? I personally would be very sad if she had any regrets in even the slightest way

How badly do y'all think Winslet regrets dropping out of the Weisz role for Wonder Wheel? I personally would be very sad if she had any regrets in even the slightest way I mean, the role itself was no Blue Jasmine, but she wound up really shooting herself in the foot on the film's press tour, so I'm sure that even if she's happy about her work in the film, the bad PR she got from it probably soured her on it, and with Lanthimos being a rising star and this film inviting major Oscar buzz, I'm sure she probably is kicking herself over it, especially if she took the job with Allen hoping it would be Blue Jasmine 2.0.

I mean, as an American myself, I am far, far from being an expert in hearing the authenticity of a British accent. To me though, Stone's just comes off as way too fake. Like a textbook example of what an American sounds like trying to do a British accent. But it was also only a few lines that bothered me, I doubt it'll be much of a problem watching the film itself.

yeah, I still can't get there. The comedy in Lobster and Sacred Deer was so dry and understated next to whatever the hell this marketing has been going for (and Sacred Deer's comedy wasn't apparent from the marketing at all). The premise of this movie seems interesting but nearly everything in that trailer is so overblown and loud, which I usually can't stand in large doses. Lanthimos has always been singular and eccentric but I've never seen him this excessive and that worries me a bit.

Here's a fun stat: Emma Stone and Olivia Colman both won the Volpi Cup the same year they took home their Oscars. Venice is becoming quite the precursor to watch for.
